If a photo were a music composition.

The strong key light is the instruments, and the shadow is the drums.

Why?

The most important note a drummer plays is a rest. Knowing when to not play is the same as knowing when to make a shadow in photography.

Drums are the pulse of a song.

Shadows are the pulse of an image.

HAPPY PHOTO PHRIDAY!

Hope everyone had a stellar week.

It happens to be International Women's Day, so this week I'm sharing an image from Naked Canvas 2019. Kay Good is a rock-star of a lady. And is an incredible person to work with, and I look forward to working with her again in the future.

Taking photos at events like Naked Canvas is a highly complex situation because so many things are happening as once. It's easy to get lost in the flurry of activity. There are so many fleeting moments, but it's important as a photographer to be aware of these things, and make sure you get it "on film".

PHOTO PHRIDAY!

(On a Saturday.... ha)

Such a busy day/night yesterday that I couldn't get around to telling you all about this image that I had to wait until today.

Themed photoshoots are full of creative ideas and it's a complete joy when the image I had in my head can come to life with the effort of everyone involved.
