SC Runway Junkie Runways are where the magic of flight begins! The pictures will be mine...but the story can be yours to enjoy!

It started for me on a simple grass strip at the farm, riding with Dad in his 1946 J-3 Cub, and it has never faded.

This wind has played havoc with the local flyins...hopefully we can make the rescheduled dates. However, there are couple of birds in town that don't care about the wind, so that's where I'm going to be! So until then, here are some of my favs from this weekend last year

These are the things that drive us crazy...heat haze! The Moroccan jet is in almost the exact same position as the Taiwan jet, with a small aspect change, but what different results.

2 days apart, 10/7 for Morocco, 10/9 for Taiwan. High sun at 2:52PM, generating tons and tons of heat from the runways, taxiways and ramps. On the other hand, high cloud cover at 9:38AM and that perfectly smooth air underneath. It can happen at any time of the year, but it is somewhat better earlier in the day, and of course during the colder months. Those days also throw off lots of "jelly' from the afterburners...which is cool too!

Yes, there is a fence in the Morocco picture...because I backed over my 2-step and had to wait for the new one to get here. Decided to "up" my ladder game and bought a 4 step with a tray, so now I'm a couple of feet higher when I fall!

I heard the ATC say “cleared for the option”, but it’s very rare that the Kfir comes in, gear down and lights on, and doesn’t come straight on in.

Lucky I was setup and ready for the F-16 or I wouldn’t have gotten this clip. Guess I’ll be on my toes the next he comes in…

Morocco and the Kfir...actually had the Kfir take the option and the F-16 flew 2 options! Heat distortion was a real issue, even though this is October, but a couple of days later there was NONE. Normally it's only an issue on the ground, but it's even there in a couple of the airborne pictures, those little irritating waves in the photos.

I'm going to post a little comparison with just 2 pics later this week, one from 10/7 and one from 10/9. The difference is staggering...
