For many years I wanted to travel. Finish college, pack up my bags, quit work & board the next flight to an unknown place. In 2016, my life changed unexpectedly and I found out motherhood was upon me. I knew having a child would be difficult however I wasn’t going to let the challenges stop the burning gypsy passion to travel from my soul; no matter how hard life became, the two of us were going to face the world together and come out on the other end someway, somehow.
After three years of hardships as a single mom, moving around, facing heartbreak, loss of support, etc. I realized that I needed to work smarter or throw in the towel. If anyone knows me, throwing in the towel is never an option for me. For anyone who has children, we can agree the responsibilities of childcare are extremely demanding & expensive. You must find dependable & affordable sitters with open flexibility (so dam difficult) especially for those who lack family support and we must make enough income to support living costs with children, etc.
In order to think smarter and still meet my parental obligations, it all fell down to prioritizing the cash flow. To prioritize costs, I needed to have a sit down with a notepad and pencil writing down every possible way to conserve $$$, master the skill and apply it to everyday life. The list of sacrifices are endless and it takes a very driven person to remain strong and carry on. If that is you, give yourself a pat on the shoulder and continue reading.
As a parent it is you against the world and it is up to you, to decide “ Is the world going to be on top of you or are you going to be on top of the world ?” -Danielle A.
