Long time, no post.

Hi! It has been awhile!

This in-between moment--thanks to the crazy wind over the weekend--was just too perfect not to share. Most people don't realize it maybe, but it is the little moments like this between the posing when the best stuff usually happens. I think we can all see a bit about the sweet relationship these two have.

It is Fri-yay and I’m already in weekend mode. I’m sitting here in my pajamas, my husband’s bathrobe, and watching old Star Trek TNG episodes with the kids while I edit.
I’m loving just about every photo from my time with Jenna and her hubby and will probably be over sharing as I edit them. 😃 🤰🏻

My beautiful friend.
I took a birth photography workshop back in 2018. I learned so much from the experience, but the best thing to come from it was the friends I made while there. Jenna was one of them. She is a truly beautiful person, inside and out. She even tolerated me and the cold so I could make this portrait of her I’ve had in mind for the last couple of months.
I cannot wait to meet her baby girl. 💕

I love the “nerdier” things in life. Comic cons, Renaissance faire, reading books... When I was a kid I *desperately* wanted to go to a Star Trek convention. Sadly, I never have made it to one. 😢 Anyway, when Caleb’s mom told me what she was thinking for his senior session, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little (or a lot) excited. And to top this dream session off, Caleb is one of the kindest young men I’ve met (and he is crazy smart too!)

The Mancias family. I don’t know why I’m surprised by it anymore, but when I get people in front of my camera, even people I know, I always learn something new about who they are. I know Ashley. She’s been my hair stylist for years now (and she is AMAZING, btw). I can be tough to get to know (I’m an INFJ through and through). Any time I’m going through something tough, I do something a bit drastic to my hair. So Ashley is always there with me as I sort of process life while she colors it purple (yes, that happened). We have talked about having babies, birth trauma, breastfeeding, caring for my mom in her last weeks, and so many other things. But still I was surprised to see something new about this gorgeous woman. She loves her kids big and, man, it shows. Though I love all their photos, my favorites are the ones where they’re interacting because their bond is just so obvious. They love and enjoy each other and it was an honor to capture that for them. ❤️

Every senior I photograph is my favorite. 😂 Caleb is no exception. I was a high school teacher back in the day and maybe that’s why. I suppose I’m still a high school teacher because I home school my high schoolers... Anyway, this age group is so much fun. And I love taking the time to figure out a bit about who they are and then have fun capturing that. Expecto Patronum!

What can I say about the Wacasey family? I’ll start with the superficial... they are all ridiculously photogenic. As I was editing their gallery I kept thinking of 1 Peter 3:4. “... Let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” And that, my friends, is a perfect description of my beautiful friend, Gwen. And that beauty definitely shines through... and here we are with these gorgeous photos that, I think at least, show the beauty of a family that seeks to walk closely with the Lord and honor Him in all they do. If I had to describe the Cory family in one word it would be JOY. I gotta be honest. This year has left me weary. I bet many of you reading this feel the same. But in the midst of what has been one of the toughest seasons for my family, I keep coming back to the word joy and expectantly waiting, waiting, waiting for God’s joy to fill my heart once again... and then I get the chance to photograph these beautiful souls and I’m seeing it through my lens. It was the encouragement my heart needed. And an added bonus is that we got to make some pretty great family photos too. 👌🏼

After a busy weekend photographing families and a 3 year presentation (photos coming soon!), besides a sore back I’m left with an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for the families who choose me to document their memories. Inevitably after each session we wind up standing in the dark talking about life for a good while. Sara blessed me with her incredible faith and wisdom as we talked about homeschooling, minivans, and loss. Her trust in God’s timing has been on my mind ever since and I’m thankful for the chance to know her and her sweet family. Here are a few of my favorites from their session.
