Every wedding day has a time budget, it's up to you how you spend it. Here are a few things Elizabeth and Michael splurged on, in no particular order:

1) connecting after the first look... Admiring each other, talking, reading vows, laughing...

2) snuggling the crying toddler during the ceremony - an unexpected expense, but worth the investment

3) Mingling during cocktail hour

What didn't they spend their time budget on? Stressing... Worrying... An hour of couple's portraits...

That's time well spent.

Had a really tough time choosing which tears, hugs, and belly laughs to put in this post. There were far too many at Carley and Ray's wedding day!!

The energy the entire day was that of pure joy and gratitude. I think that Carley and Ray thanked everyone no less than three times during the reception - and they were honest every time. From the moment I stepped into getting ready until Beauty and a Beat was SCREAMED on the dance floor (it's objectively a banger), the joy and kindness emanating from Carley, Ray, and their people was palpable. What a treat it is to bear witness to the best parts of humanity.

This year, Grandparents took on a new meaning for me.

My Papa went home this past January. He's at the end of this post, holding my camera and, more importantly, my son. Becca and I, on a family walk, passed someone that looked like him from a distance the other day, so he's been on my mind today.

I'm photographing a wedding tomorrow, and I have 12 more before the end of the year. If you have one or more grandparents at your wedding, let me know! It's a huge gift to have them, hug them, and joke with them - and it's a huge gift to ME to take their photo.

Spent yesterday evening mostly dodging the heat and hanging with Erica and Patrick!
I love the challenge of photographing in a place I've been numerous times. Something can always be adjusted, a new corner can always be found. It's a good challenge.

Erica and Patrick weren't a challenge, though. They were a joy! Snuck a little test shot into slide 5 because it was too cute. Thanks for hangin' with me! ☺️

If your week has been anything like mine, it's been insanity. Take a break and scroll through some intensely good vibes from Alexandria and Ty's heartful, wonderful day!
Alex and Ty are best friends. When I first spoke to them in *checks notes* FEBRUARY OF 2025, that's the first thing they said about each other. And it's so dang true.
One thing they didn't tell me was how they make you feel like you're their best friend! Everyone at the wedding felt that. A room full of their best friends. Alex and Ty are warm, joyful, determined, and passionate people, and I'm feeling excessively blessed to have been there with too many cameras.

Mal and Mik chose to do one of my favorite wedding formats which is the famous "weekday courthouse ceremony, weekend reception."

This split, I feel, maximizes a few things:

Chill factor - low pressure at basically every point

Party time - two separate days means your wedding is a full week! Add a little dinner after your courthouse ceremony for maximum people time ☺️

Excitement!!! - those one or two days between the ceremony and reception are special. Friends and family begin to arrive, the excitement builds, and you get to hang with your person as a married couple through it all.
Mal and Mik are good, kind folks. Their wedding was replete with good, kind folks. They hugged their friends, danced with their many nieces, and laughed at Dad's wildly energetic toast. And I got to stand on the Judge's desk.

Good stuff abounds!
