There are certain moments that make me pause for a second and really take it all in… and shooting for the A’ja Wilson Foundation was one of those moments for me.
When I got the phone call, I honestly had to sit there for a second because my first thought was… “Wait… THE A’ja Wilson???” 😭 I genuinely didn’t think it was real at first. But it was…and beyond the opportunity itself, what really stayed with me was the experience of watching young athletes be poured into in such an intentional way. Seeing conversations around confidence, mental strength, health, and what it means to take care of yourself as an athlete meant so much to witness. It was bigger than basketball. You could feel that they weren’t just investing into athletes… they were investing into young women as a whole.
And honestly, being in that room reminded me how important representation and encouragement really are. Sometimes one conversation, one experience, or one moment of someone believing in you can shift the way you see yourself completely.
This moment definitely reminded me how far God has brought me. Because there was a time I was simply just trying to figure this photography thing out, hoping one day opportunities like this would find me.
I don’t take moments like this lightly, and I definitely don’t take them for granted. Every opportunity, every room, every person that trusts me with their vision really means something to me.
It’s easy to post the final photos and keep moving, but moments like this really make me stop and realize how blessed I truly am. My camera has carried me into spaces I once only dreamed about, and I’ll never stop being grateful for that.
Thankful 🫶🏾
