Simpson Rural Fire Department (Pitt County, North Carolina)

Located in the Village of Simpson off NC 33 East, Simpson Rural Fire Department is a volunteer department that operates as Pitt County Company 32.

They operate five apparatus out of their single station on Virginia Street. They operate a 2023 Ferrara Cinder Engine, a 2018 Ferrara Cinder Engine, a 2005 Freightliner M2 106/E-One Engine that they utilize as a Tanker, a 2008 Freightliner M2 112/KME Tanker, and a 2013 HME/2015 Ferrara Intruder II Rescue.

05/23/2026 - Beasley Drive - Residential Fire

On the afternoon of May 23rd, Greenville, N.C. Fire/Rescue and Pitt County Company 51 - The Red Oak Community Rural Fire Department were dispatched to a Residential Structure Fire in the 400 Block of Beasley Drive. Engine 2 was first arriving and observed a multi-family apartment complex with fire showing. Crews on scene were able to make a quick knock on the fire before it spread to exposures.

05/16/2026 - Gaskins Road - Brush Fire Endangering

On the afternoon of 05/16/2026, Pitt County Company 35 - Black Jack Volunteer Fire Dept, Company 34 - Eastern Pines Fire/Rescue, Company 31 - Grimesland Volunteer Fire Department & Company 45 - Gardnerville Fire Department were dispatched to the 5000-Block of Gaskins Road in Grimesland, NC for a Brush Fire Endangering a Structure. Black Jack units arrived and observed a controlled burn that had spread to nearby vegetation and was now endangering a structure. Crews were able to contain the fire to the pile of origin and were able to release the fire back to the property owner.

04/16/2026 - Frog Level Road - Vehicle Fire

On the night of 04/16/2026, while on scene of a Residential Structure Fire, The Red Oak Community Rural Fire Department and Winterville Fire-Rescue-EMS were dispatched to a Vehicle Fire on Frog Level Road directly beneath the NC 11 bridge. First arriving units found a working vehicle fire in the engine compartment of a pickup truck. Personnel deployed the front jumpline and were able to contain the fire to pickup and avoid structural damage to the bridge.

Arcola Rural Fire Department (Warren County, North Carolina)

Located between the communities of Warrenton and Hollister on NC 43, Arcola Rural Fire Department is a volunteer department that operates in both Southeast Warren and Southwest Halifax counties.

They operate six apparatus out of their single station on NC 43. They operate a 2017 E-One Engine, a 2001 Freightliner FL70/Central States Engine, a 1993 E-One Hush Engine, a 1998 Freightliner FL80/EEI Tanker, a 2003 Ford F-450/Wynn Rescue and a 2002 Ford F-350 Brush truck. They also have a 1987 Ford F-750/EEI that they utilize as a Reserve Engine.

Engine 42 (1993 E-One Hush) and Ex-Engine 41 (1987 Ford F-750/EEI) are both for sale. If you or your organization is possibly interested in purchasing either apparatus, please reach out to the Arcola Rural Fire Department.

03/28/2026 - Hayley Court - Structure Fire

During the late night hours of 03/28/2026, Greenville Fire/Rescue & Red Oak Community Rural 51 were alerted to a Residential Structure Fire on Hayley Court in the Taberna subdivision. Red Oak Community Rural Engine 5101 & Greenville Engine 5 arrived within moments of each other, and observed a multi-story residential structure with heavy smoke showing. Battalion 1 arrived and marked it as a County Working Incident. Crews were on scene for over 4 hours working to extinguish the fire.
