Venue shoutout:

is one of the best upstate South Carolina wedding venues for fostering a great atmosphere. There are so many places on the grounds that make it easy to build a beautiful gallery.

in Charlottesville, Virginia doesn’t miss. Every section is beautiful and supports every moment from getting ready to the dance floor with effortless elegance. I cannot recommend Keswick Hall as a wedding venue enough!

Scroll to the end to witness an aesthetic representation of the crash out I’m having on my couch trying to narrow down which photos from this session to post. 🆘🚨

Pasta was made. Puppies played. Coffee was enjoyed. And what’s left is a gallery packed with moments that feel like Caroline & Ryan’s love: like cooking at home on a sunny Saturday morning.

Side note: Remind me to come on instagram live and talk about compositional variety in a gallery. I’ve been working on that a lot, and I’m SO pumped about the progress I’m seeing.

Additional side note: Chapel Hill is SO cute??? I’m dying to do UNC Chapel Hill engagements. 👀 The architecture on campus is gorgeous. I’m up that way quite a bit already, so hit me up if you’re looking for a chapel hill wedding photographer!!

100+ weddings and these are the 4 things couples who enjoy their day fully have in common.

1. They chose their people carefully. No Debbie downers, no control freaks, no nay-sayers. Just supportive, enthusiastic people ready to both help and party.

2. They delegated well. Everyone knows their tasks and the order of things and the couple isn’t being bombarded with questions all day long. They don’t need to parent the people involved, they can enjoy and trust that everyone will take care of themselves and each other.

3. Their timeline had breathing room built in. A crammed day is a hectic day. With so many players involved, even the best planned wedding days have unexpected twists and turns. Create a flow that allows for that and for time to soak it all in.

4. They approached the day with open hands. They understood that the most important detail was to celebrate their love with their people. Gratitude and flexibility are their mantra and nothing that goes wrong can sway their energy because they approached the day with openness.

Vendors, what did I miss?? There are so many things that add up for those days that are just perfect, so let me know if you have other advice to offer!

When briefing my team ahead of Jordan & Zack’s wedding, I told them the vibe was “effortless cool girl energy” paired with deep connection, and we could not have been more spot on!!! The couple dove headfirst into the day, laughed off the hiccups, and celebrated hard, and their families and wedding party matched that energy completely. My team could not stop talking about how obsessed we were with this crowd! That kind of collective personality makes such a dramatic difference in the outcome, and it made creating the work feel easy.

The results were everything we’d hoped for and then some. The design was perfectly executed and the perfect backdrop for the day to unfold authentically and without pressure or stress. I truly don’t think it could have gone better. Thank you both so much, Jordan & Zack, for inviting me into this experience and trusting me with your memories.

Vote in the comments if I should publish some of the quotes Zack said throughout the day. He might go down as the funniest groom I’ve ever worked with, and definitely the biggest hype man of his wife.

Art Direction: Every design element of this day was connected, creating the perfect stage for their moments to unfold. The dresses, tuxes, florals, venue, jewelry, hairstyles, and candelabras: everything shared a through line that supported their photos effortlessly!

I posed the wedding party to parallel the style of the day, blending traditional posing with personalized touches that emphasized the design and the people with equal weight. A wide variety of lighting, from indoor natural light and outdoor direct sun to off-camera flash and soft backlighting, keeps the gallery varied while remaining unified. That balance is something I’ve been pursuing more intentionally: lighting choices that, though diverse, still live together and serve my client’s unique taste.

The final results feel classic without feeling stale. Nothing is unexpected, yet nothing is predictable.

Artist’s Thoughts:
This day was full of amazing people. Every vendor was locked in, yet so relaxed, and it showed. That kind of effortlessness is a gift.

A lot of that came from Haleigh and Drew’s people. Their family and friends were present, kind, grounded, and fully in it. That energy changes everything. It lets emotions move freely and gives the couple the space to actually have the day they deserve. My second shooter and I couldn’t stop talking about the speeches!! The entire room was crying with laughter and moved to tears. That electricity in a space is part of why I love wedding days so much. It takes a very special couple to bring together so many incredible people.
