Tres en Rosa

The tradewinds sweep across the grassy field below El Morro in Old San Juan, where kite flying is a common sight. What caught my eye was the thread of pink connecting the girl, the woman, and the kite above them.

For a moment, the scene felt like it belonged somewhere between an Andrew Wyeth painting and a quiet afternoon in a Seurat landscape. What are your thoughts?

Anders Langendal & Sons Boatbuilders – Greenport, NY -on assignment for

I’ve known Erik for over 10 years, so when I was given this assignment I really wanted to deliver photographs that would make him and his father proud. Prior to my career in photography, I was a USCG-licensed captain and spent several years working as a boatbuilder myself. Needless to say, I have a deep admiration for the people who keep the marine trades alive.

I highly encourage people to pick up the latest issue of North Forker Magazine (or visit their website) and read about the Langendal family’s storied past. Places like this carry the grit and maritime spirit of Greenport.

I leaned pretty heavy into film this trip even though I brought my digital camera. The square format of the Hasselblad 500 CM can be a pain to compose sometimes, but when it works, its amazing.
