There are a lot of new faces here, so I thought this would be a good time to introduce myself again and share a little about the person behind the camera.
Whether you’ve been following my photography for years or just recently found my page, I’m glad you’re here!
So, who am I and what do I do?
I’m Rebecca Belcher, owner of Rebecca Belcher Photography, and I’ve been a professional photographer for more than 16 years. But my love of photography started long before it became my business. I received my first camera when I was eight years old, and I’ve been capturing the world around me ever since.
One of the things that defines me as a photographer is that I’m diverse and adaptable. I don’t specialize in only one subject, one location, or one set of perfect conditions. Over the years, I’ve learned how to work with whatever environment is in front of me and find the photograph within it.
I’ve photographed on a glacier and in the desert. In the snow, summer heat, rain, darkness, golden light, and full midday sun. I’ve worked around waterfalls, beaches, in forests and fields, along city streets, at community events, and in both indoor and outdoor settings. Every location and situation brings something different, and figuring out how to make the most of it is part of what I love about photography.
My camera has taken me down a lot of different paths. I’ve photographed families, pets, seniors, professional headshots and branding sessions, businesses, authors, musicians and concerts, weddings, reunions, birthday parties, community events, festivals, agriculture, real estate, landscapes, and plenty of everyday moments that simply caught my eye.
I grew up in a small town in Alaska, so I’ve always had an appreciation for small-town life and the sense of community that comes with it. That’s one of the things I love about Greeneville. It has that same kind of small-town feel where you get to know people, recognize familiar faces, and feel connected to the community around you.
I think that connection influences the way I photograph, too. I enjoy documenting not only portraits and special occasions, but also the people, businesses, events, traditions, and everyday moments that tell the story of the community I now call home.
Over the years, my photography has been published in newspapers, magazines, and calendars, featured on a book cover, and displayed on billboards. These days, you’ll often find me around Greeneville and East Tennessee with a camera in my hand, documenting the people, events, landscapes, and little details that make our area special.
But if you ask me what I love photographing most, it comes back to people, pets, and moments.
I love creating portraits that look natural, vibrant, and timeless. I love photographing dogs and capturing their individual personalities. I love helping business owners and professionals create images that represent who they are and what they do. I love documenting events as they actually happen. And I love giving people photographs that may mean even more to them years from now than they do today.
Photography has taught me to adapt, pay attention, and work with what I’m given. Sometimes that means beautiful golden light. Sometimes it means harsh sun, pouring rain, freezing temperatures, a dark room, or an unpredictable animal who has absolutely no interest in posing for me.
That variety is part of why I still love what I do. No two sessions, events, people, pets, or locations are exactly alike.
Photography, to me, isn’t just about taking a pretty picture.
It’s about seeing what is in front of me, finding the story, and preserving a moment that will never happen exactly the same way again.
That’s who I am and what I do.
