Somewhere between the chaos and the "okay everyone look over here," there's always at least one moment that stops me... A little hand reaching up without thinking about it. A genuine laugh that wasn't planned. A toddler absolutely losing it over a flower and not caring even a little bit that there's a camera nearby.

Those are the ones that make it into frames. Not because they were perfect, but because they were real. And that's what I'm there for ☺️ And it's why I think every family deserves at least one summer on record, exactly as they are right now!

Here's the thing... I have wrangled my own kids for photos more than once (obviously) and I will not pretend it always went smoothly. There always seems to be a whole situation involving a bribe, a meltdown, and what I can only describe as a standoff for who can be more stubborn: the mom that wants the memories or the three-nager who refuses to smile 😖

So when you tell me you're nervous about how your kids are going to behave or whether your husband is going to make "that face" the whole time, I am not just nodding politely. I genuinely get it from both sides of the camera!

But I still think it's worth it every single time! Because somehow, even on the chaotic days, we get the shot. You freeze the memory and temporarily stall how fast these days fly by!

Ever wonder what types of photos can you expect from your mini session?? Here's a small glimpse...

We will always try to get that standard, everyone looking at the camera and (hopefully) smiling photo! But after that's done comes the fun stuff 😁 We breakdown the family to get photos of mom with the kids, dad with the kids, siblings, individuals, and then really let loose with movement and interactive moments!'

One of my favorite things is when families I see every year come around for an extended family session! Getting full families together brings out all the silliness and even though you end up herding toddlers for the majority of the time together, there's so many laughs and good times had by all 😍

Here's something I don't think gets said enough about wedding venues: The setting does a lot of the heavy lifting for you! And Halverson House in Waterford? It does A LOT of heavy lifting 😍

Around every corner there's something worth stopping for. Lush greenery, architectural details, open light, tucked-away spots that feel like they were designed specifically to make you look like that. I'm going to be real with you for a second... Most seniors come into their session convinced they're not photogenic, that they won't know what to do with their hands, or that they're just going to look awkward in every single shot 😬

And I get it! Because posing in front of a camera while someone stares at you is genuinely a little weird at first. But here's what actually happens: we talk, we move around, I give you something to do, and about ten minutes in you kind of forget I'm even there. That's when we get the good ones! Not the stiff, "okay smile" shot... The one that actually looks like you. The one you're going to want on your wall. The one your parents are going to cry over. Yeah, that one!
