Hey friends! Unfortunately, I have some sad news to share. If you’ve been around for a while, you know that 4 years ago we found out that I have a cerebral AVM, after a trip to the ER for a migraine that turned into me talking out of my head and being unable to walk.
When we first found the AVM 4 years ago, we decided to leave it alone unless something came up to make us decide otherwise. I’ve enjoyed 4 great years with no other issues besides a few migraines. All of that changed on February 8th. Long story short, in the middle of a migraine I became unresponsive, had two seizure like episodes (one happened in the ER), had trouble talking after the episodes, and also lost part of my vision for 3 days after that. An EEG that was done found that there was some brain damage done by the events in February, which could explain why I’m still having a hard time recovering and still dealing with a few symptoms. After talking to all the doctors, we have decided that surgery to remove the AVM is the safest option for me going forward. Right now we are just waiting for the call back to let us know when we can start the process. Because my AVM is rather large, this could be up to a month long process of closing off arteries before surgery is even possible.
Because we have no idea how long I will be in and out of the hospital plus the recovery process at home, we have decided that it would be best for me not to take any photography sessions this year. It makes me so sad to have to miss getting together with all of my favorite families and friends to document life changes! But Lord willing, I will come through surgery unscathed, and if everything goes well, I will post an update in the Fall if I feel like doing a few Fall or Christmas minis are an option.
We covet your prayers as we go through this unknown valley, but we know that our God is with us and will comfort us no matter the outcomes.
