Pride Month is just around the corner and you know what that means ...
the homophobes and transphobes will be triggered.

But here's the interesting thing about that — the people who complain about Pride are the very reason Pride still exists.

If LGBTQ+ people were fully accepted, protected, and treated with dignity, there would be far less need for a month dedicated to visibility, community, inclusivity and advocacy.

But every year, right on schedule, people show up to complain about rainbow flags, same-sex couples, transgender people, pronouns, drag queens, and the mere existence of LGBTQ+ people.

So every year when someone asks, “Why do we still need Pride?”

The answer usually shows up in the comments.

Life might feel short but it is sooo long when broken down into experiences.. I’m going to tell you a story.. about a young kid, who witnessed a ton of hurt. Who vowed that no one on his path would ever experience the same.. who grew to a teenager and got thrown to the side and called a freak for being different. That teenager traveled like sound across the fate ladder. He traveled with feelings so he could deal with touch.. he traveled with a spoon to mix this cake batter.. who now patiently walks with happiness. Who takes in every moment and smiles cuz even though it is fleeting, there is many to experience. Don’t lose touch. Remember that it is so much better to bake a beautiful sweet cake, then one made with salt and vinegar. First sunrise after the storm and it did not disappoint! 🌅
