A little something different today. I went out to my kinda sorta but not really local drag strip (about a 2.5 hr drive each way) for their volunteer clean up day to get ready for the season. Can't wait to get back there with my camera for the big race days!

I was at Best Buy the other day for something and decided to look at the current mainstream offerings for cameras. Every one of the demo units I picked up felt like I was holding one of these boxes. Not ergonomic at all.

Definitely not regretting buying into the Pentax ecosystem, and the great ergonomics my camera has.

What do you do when it's blizzarding outside and all the outlets are telling everyone to stay home? Go out for a walk with your camera, of course!

Wisconsin is being hammered by a major snow storm today, with 20+ inches of snow and 20-40 mph winds and up. I decided to walk the neighborhood to see what I could see since I've been deprived of a good snow this season. I wouldn't recommend this for every camera out there, but the famed weather sealing on Pentax is one of the reasons I picked their system. Takes a beating and keeps on clicking!

And yes, that is a rare selfie from me. Not really my thing since I prefer being behind the camera, but there's always an exception. lol

I've been thinking about getting into videography for my drag racing work. With only getting to a couple of tracks and handful of events a year, the photos start to look repetitive. Maybe some generous benefactor would want to drop one of these in my lap? Lol. (I am actually thinking of renting one for my upcoming event for Memorial Day.)

I was getting an itch for a winter themed session, so I took a day trip. I was originally hoping to find a snowy forest or trail, but I kept striking out any place I checked. On the way home, I stopped by a breakwater levy in Oconto, WI on the Bay of Green Bay to see what it had to offer. There were a number of people out ice fishing that made for some ok photos, but I really liked the macro ice photos I got from under a small ice shove. It looks like a mini-ice cave!

Ice shoves are the phenomenon where the lake ice starts to break up, and the currents push it to shore. The ice sheets eventually pile up on top of each other, but it was too early for much of that yet. There was only a couple small shoves so far. Those photos were taken with a 100mm macro lens and natural light. I also got a macro shot of one of the boulders with an odd covering (for lack of a better term).

The rest are all fairly normal day in the life type shots, but there was one really weird looking sled dog running around out there. LOL
