Let's dispell some rumors I heard last night.
I am not gone.
I love what I do.
I just don't actively monitor this page in the off season.
That DOES NOT mean once the cars return to the dirt that I won't be there.
I started doing this in 2006 and had to take a few years off for medical reasons. It took losing my dad to convince me to return to my passion of racing photography and a few short years later losing a fellow photographer sister to make me realize I can't give up on my passion.
There will be haters.
There will be people attempting to drum up business from my regular customers by spreading rumors I'm not around.
I won't play into that mess. I WILL NOT get into a Facebook war with people trying to demean years of building relationships and customers to make themselves feel better.
I will however do what I can, when I can for my racing community. Photos, hero cards, and surprisingly even T-shirts when asked. If I have done it for racers in the past, rest assured I will attempt to do it again. With the new technology I allow digital downloads and in 20 years have never raised the cost of an 8x10 print. $10 has been the cost since I started. The only way I will raise that price is if the actual printing costs becomes greater. Think about that for one moment.
If someone else wants to play Frogger every night and get that Victory Lane photo, capture that moment a first time winner climbs out of their car, an unplanned proposal (and there habe been a few that mean so much to the happy couple, or even a driver who's victories are few & far between, then come join me.
But knowing the racers, their stories, their struggles isn't something you stumble upon. It is something you develop over time and dedication. Even after taking 5 years off I jumped right in and though time had changed our stories and memories don't.
What some people see me photographing other than cars on the track may seem silly, crazy or even plain weird. However, some photos mean a little more than when meets the eye. Some photos are for the sheer joy of being able to give a little girl a photo holding hands with her dad through the fence, or a younger multi-generational driver a photo with those we don't have much time with.
You don't have to like me. You don't have to purchase anything from me. When that moment comes (and it always does), I have the photos.
