🚨 An Indefinite Decision I’ve made for OAK + IVY NORTHERN MICHIGAN STORYTELLER 🚨
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about something I never imagined would become such an important consideration when I first started photographing families:
What happens to our children’s images once they exist online?
Recently, I came across a court case involving AI-generated images and children that made me stop and think about just how quickly technology is changing—and how little control we may have over an image once it is publicly available online.
AI is becoming increasingly advanced. Images can be copied, altered, manipulated, and used in ways we may not anticipate. And while I don’t believe every photograph shared online will be misused, I also believe that if I have the ability to take an extra step to protect the children whose images I’m trusted with, then I should.
So, moving forward, I have made the decision that I will no longer publicly post identifiable images of children’s faces on my social media pages.
I will still be sharing my work, but in a different way. You’ll see the tiny hands, little shoes, curls blowing in the wind, smiles from behind, family cuddles, laughter, details, and all of the beautiful moments that tell your family’s story—without publicly sharing an identifiable image of your child’s face.
This decision isn’t meant to create fear around photography, social media, or sharing photos of your children.
It simply comes down to this:
I would rather be cautious than ever wish I had been.
As a photographer, I have the privilege of being trusted with your babies, your children, and the people you love most. That is a responsibility I do not take lightly.
Your memories are still yours. Your galleries will still be beautiful. Your children will still be celebrated.
I’m simply choosing to keep their identifiable faces out of the public space because behind every photograph is a real child—and to me, protecting that child will always be more important than getting a like, booking a session, or having something to post.

Their memories deserve to be preserved.
Their privacy deserves to be protected.
And their safety will always come first.
