Planning a redwoods elopement? Read this before you pick your date. 🌲

Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is one of the most breathtaking places to say “I do” on the North Coast, and one of the easiest to get wrong on the paperwork.

Here’s what most couples don’t know:

→ Every ceremony needs a permit, even if it’s just the two of you
→ Fees run $60–$400+, depending on group size, where in the park, and what your event needs
→ You can apply up to 6 months out, and no later than 45 days before your date
→ Proof of event insurance has to be on file before you’re approved
That 45-day cutoff is the easy one to miss. Wait too long and your date is off the table.

The good news: when you elope with me, I handle the permit process and photography insurance for you. One less thing on your plate, so you can focus on the part that actually matters.

Adventure doesn’t mean hiking ten miles in your wedding dress. 🌲

It can be a five-mile hike to a waterfall. Or a five-minute walk from the car. Both count.

An adventure elopement isn’t “show up, pose, leave.” It’s a day built around actually experiencing a place together, while I document every moment of it. Sometimes that’s veils in waterfall mist. Sometimes it’s headlamps and dancing under the evergreens after dark.

Sometimes we go find a cliff on the Oregon Coast, let the wind absolutely destroy your hair, climb around somewhere beautiful and make it feel a whole lot more like a date than a photoshoot.

You don’t have to know how to pose.
You don’t have to be “good in front of the camera.”
And you definitely don’t have to know where to go.

That’s literally my job.

Thinking about eloping in the Redwoods? Save this. 📌

Here’s what nobody tells you:
→ Morning light filtering through the canopy is the golden hour. Sun rays like these don’t happen at noon.
→ Fallen logs make some of the most stunning ceremony spots, no arch required.
→ Weekday mornings mean you’ll often have the grove almost to yourselves.
→ Permits vary between national and state park land, so plan ahead (I handle this with my couples).

Imagine kayaking to your own elopement. 🛶

A flower crown, a veil tucked into a life jacket, and a bouquet riding up front. They paddled out while the fog rolled over the cliffs, and stayed on the water until the sun slipped behind the hills and the first stars came out.
