Burrowing Owl // Probably my favorite shot from my time with two Burrowing Owls a few weeks ago in central Washington. These owls are pretty tiny (appx. 8" - 10") but they can sure give you a fierce look. :-). (Nikon Z8 + Z600mm f/6.3 lens)

Sandhill Cranes // The Sandhill Crane Festival is this weekend in Othello, Washington. Over 30,000 cranes stop for food and a rest in March as they migrate north to breeding grounds in Alaska. We won't be able to go this weekend so went over earlier this week before the festival and found a large flock of cranes west of Othello. Here's a photo of part of that flock. (Nikon Z8 + 600mm f/6.3 lens)

Burrowing Owl // Yesterday was only the second time I have photographed these amazing little owls. Right up there with Snowy Owls as my favorite owl and I'm so happy I got another chance to photograph them. (Nikon Z8 and Z 600mm f/6.3 lens)

Harlequin Duck // Male Harlequin Duck from the Semiahmoo spit in northwest Washington state. There are 27 species of ducks in western Washington but I think these are my favorite--the coloring of the male Harlequin is amazing! (Nikon Z8 and Z600mm f/6.3 lens)

Bald Eagle // Always great to photograph these amazing birds! On the Semiahmoo spit they perch in two dead trees that allow them to see Semiahmoo Bay on one side of the spit and Drayton Harbor on the other side. Both bodies of water are filled with ducks and other water birds that undoubtedly make a good meal for an eagle. (Nikon Z8 & Z600mm f/6.3 lens)

Northern Harrier // Male Northern Harriers, nicknamed the "Grey Ghost" are much harder to find than their brown female counterparts as there are fewer males. I had been trying to get a good photo of a male for years and finally got lucky on Friday afternoon at the Skagit Wildlife Area near Edison, WA. (Nikon Z8 and Z 600mm f/6.3 lens)
