Earlier this summer I went in for a pretty routine back surgery, spinal fusion of L4&L5. During the surgery I was critically injured and I went into cardiac arrest. The surgical team started CPR and called in the vascular team, the vascular surgeon cut my abdomen open, found the bleed and pinched the artery while the team continued CPR for 45 minutes. I spent two weeks in the ICU and a total of five weeks in the hospital. During my time there I had pneumonia, pancreatitis, respiratory failure, a blood clot in my left jugular causing extreme swelling in my left hand, a pseudoaneurism in my groin, a GI bleed that required emergency surgery, and mild brain anoxia. I’m still in pt, ot, rec and voice therapy a few times a week and recovering well.
I was and am incredibly lucky to have such an incredible support system of family and friends.
Due to ongoing complications I am no longer doing photography. It’s very bittersweet, it’s all I have done for 20+ years and I absolutely loved it but I’m ready to find my new path and see where it takes me. I’m incredibly thankful for all of my clients over the years. Watching your families grow has been an honor.
