Fair Oaks Farms Wedding

Rainy mornings + the best kind of plot twist

The day started with a solid drizzle—the kind that makes you nervous if your whole ceremony is outdoors. But here’s the thing: this couple (and their crew) were champs. Umbrellas out, spirits high, no one panicked. And thankfully, Fair Oaks Farm has amazing covered spaces for portraits—think architectural walkways, clean lines, and dreamy filtered light that gave us some of my favorite photos of the day.

And then... magic. Just as it was time to head to the ceremony, the sky cleared. The trees still dripped gently, but the sun peeked out like it knew it was invited. Everyone walked to the wooded ceremony site with this quiet awe—like they were stepping into something special.

This Kankakee River engagement session had all the right pieces. Rocky banks, still water, and soft evening light that made everything feel calm and clean. We wandered, we shot, and let the landscape do the heavy lifting.

The Blessing Barn | Indiana

Some venues just get it.

The Blessing Barn gave us space to breathe. Ten wooded acres, weekend-long access, and the kind of quiet that makes even the nerves slow down.

It felt tucked-away in the best way. Intimate, but open. Sacred, but never stiff.

And when a place holds a day this well? The photos don’t have to try so hard.

A Fair Oaks Farms Wedding that doesn’t feel like a farm.

Let me tell you about this hidden corner of Indiana I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with…
This was my first time photographing a Fair Oaks Farms wedding, and it absolutely won me over. Now, if you hear “farm” and immediately picture barn doors, burlap, and hay bales—pause. Rewind. This? Was not that.
Instead? This wedding was tucked into the woods, wrapped in golden leaves, moody skies, and a calm that felt like exhaling after holding your breath. It was sacred, cinematic, and personal in all the right ways.

Engagement sessions are my favorite kind of warm-up. No pressure, no stiff posing—just a chance to wander, talk about your first date spot, and get comfortable being yourselves while I third-wheel with a camera.

The best part? You’ll forget I’m even taking pictures. And later, you’ll look back and say, “That feels exactly like us.” That’s always the goal.

Not every part of your wedding day has to be packed with people or planned to the minute.
This was just a quiet walk, a deep breath, and a chance to be together before heading back into the noise.
No pressure. No performance. Just a pause.
Honestly? These little moments in between are some of my favorite to photograph

“A lot of couples worry they need to pose perfectly for every photo.
That they need to smile at the camera. Look polished. Know what to do.
But honestly? Some of the most meaningful moments happen when you forget you’re being photographed.
Like this one—just walking through tall grass, talking, moving, being together.
No instructions. No performance. Just real connection, exactly how it was.
My job isn’t to make you look like someone else.
It’s to create space where you feel like yourselves—and capture that.
So no, you don’t have to know what to do. I’ll guide you. And we’ll get the photos that matter most—the ones that feel like you.”

Not every wedding has to happen in a garden or ballroom.
Sometimes, your love story looks more like downtown traffic, crisp air, and walking across a city bridge in full wedding gear.
And honestly? That’s the whole point.
Your day should reflect you—whether that’s a quiet backyard, a candlelit church, or a skyline you’ve shared a hundred memories under.
Don’t plan a wedding to fit the photos.
Plan a day that fits your story—and let the photos follow.

“If you’re worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera—you’re not alone.
So many couples tell me, “We don’t know how to pose,” or “We’re not photo people.”
But here’s the thing: I don’t expect you to be.
This moment right here?
It wasn’t about nailing a pose—it was about slowing down, leaning in, and letting yourselves just be together.
I give gentle direction, not stiff posing. I’ll tell you where to stand, what to do with your hands, when to pause—and then I watch for the real stuff to unfold.
That’s when the good photos happen.
Not because you knew what to do, but because you trusted the process enough to just be yourselves.”
