Here’s what goes into the photos you see in my and so many other photographers’ portfolios:
It’s never been about just showing up with a camera and clicking a button. Nah. This is years of studying light how it moves, how it kisses a face, how it shapes a moment into something unforgettable. It’s learning how bodies move, how different body types photograph best, and how to honor every shape, shade, and presence that steps in front of my lens. It’s learning cultures, traditions, and the nuances of couple dynamics so I can hold space for every kind of love and help people feel truly seen, celebrated, and validated while I do it.
It’s training my eyes to find beauty anywhere whether we’re in a grand ballroom dripping with chandeliers or a backyard strung with fairy lights. It’s learning to read a story before it even happens, so I’m already in the right place when it unfolds. It’s creating a space where you feel safe enough to be fully yourself. It’s guiding without controlling, so you never feel stiff, forced, or posed. It’s noticing the little things that will one day mean everything grandma quietly fixing the veil, the best man wiping away tears, that tiny breath you take before you say “I do.”
This isn’t just a job for me. This is my craft. My art. My life’s work.
