Jackie & Erik!

When I first met them in February, they were looking at a big fall of 2027 wedding and just starting to plan. A few weeks later, I got an email from Jackie saying “actually..what’s your availability like THIS summer for a micro wedding?”

So glad they made their day into exactly what they wanted, with only their closest family there and plenty of time for hugs & speeches as the sun set.

This year, capturing a season of life with photos feels more significant than ever to me.

Looking back at photos from even 4 months ago makes me tear up, knowing I’ll never get to relive that same stage, same memory, again.

Every time we travel I love getting photos with my favorite people to hang on the wall to help remember and tell stories of our life. But not photos that are too posed and “perfect”, photos that just show us, how we really are, how we remember it, exploring the world around us.

It’s wedding day for Jake + Abby!

This might be the wrong thing to say when I’m trying to sell photos, but oh well.

I hear way too often that photos are the most important part of a wedding day. Because they’re the only thing you’ll have to remember it by, because no other vendor creates something that lasts, because without the photos to show off what’s the purpose of the wedding anyway?

Don’t get me wrong: wedding photos are incredibly important.

Because after your day goes by like a blur, you’ll want to see all the small moments you might’ve forgotten or never saw. Because you’ll want to be reminded of the support of your community and the start of your new family.

But not because they’re the most important part of the day.

20 years down the road, I’d rather have a thriving marriage with my best friend than a thousand epic photos of one day.

Invest in the relationship over the appearance.
Treat your day like a celebration and start of a lifelong partnership rather than a giant photo op.

And find a photographer that respects and captures the sacredness of the day, rather than someone who interrupts special moments with your people as if photos the most important.

Seth & Lauren!!

I’ve gotten to watch these two from the early dating days of playing pickleball and board games, and their wedding day was a beautiful reflection of their lives & community.

From the day last fall when Lauren asked me “Sooo… do you have some availability in May or June?” to hiding in a park for the proposal I knew this was going to be fantastic.
