For America's 250 birthday, GH has been lighting up the catwalk in red, white, and blues. Once we heard about this we had to go out there and capture it ourselves.

We drove out to check out lights at blue hour, but the sun was setting just behind the lighthouse so we had to try and get a picture of it. Good thing we got there when we did, the haze occurred the sun more and more as it set.

Despite the cold, gusty winds that coat the Grand Haven Lighthouse in thick layers of ice, the warm sunset light provides a beautiful juxtaposition of strength and serenity. The golden glow over the lighthouse highlights the raw power and beauty of a Michigan winter on Lake Michigan's shore.
