It has been in the works for a long time but I finally get to announce it!!!!

I am leading the new Classes and Workshops Department at Grand Rapids Camera (formerly Norman's Camera).

I have always loved teaching photography, and honestly this partnership feels like a dream. My bigger hope is that it becomes something great for all of us and helps build a stronger, more cohesive West Michigan photography community. Create a space where every photographer belongs, no exceptions.

June 18 — Intro to Lightroom
You have it installed. You have never really dug in. This is where that changes.

June 27 — Practical Lightroom
The Develop module, masking basics, real workflow, actual results.

More classes are coming.

But here is what I want from you right now: tell me what you want to learn. Techniques you have been curious about. Skills you want to sharpen. Subjects you have never found a good class for. Your voice shapes what this will become.

About the Workshop

This two-session photography class invites DSLR, mirrorless, and phone photographers to explore the artistry of capturing glass, emphasizing composition, color, transparency, and form.

Session One — September 12
We will be capturing images together then sharing our work with each other, with a dab of guided instruction from me.

Session Two — September 19
We will return the following week with a renewed vision and capture more images, applying all the new knowledge to create better images.

I truly believe self critique is a super power as a photographer, and I am hoping to help you along this journey and to refine how and why you capture photos.

It happens every year and I am always excited to try something new or just nail something I missed last year. I believe a lot of getting better at photography is to keep a running list of missed images that need a tweak from event to event. It gives me a starting point the next year (helps me not feel overwhelmed of where to start on big events) and keeps me thinking about what is a good image.
