About the Workshop

This two-session photography class invites DSLR, mirrorless, and phone photographers to explore the artistry of capturing glass, emphasizing composition, color, transparency, and form.

Session One — September 12
We will be capturing images together then sharing our work with each other, with a dab of guided instruction from me.

Session Two — September 19
We will return the following week with a renewed vision and capture more images, applying all the new knowledge to create better images.

The Philosophy

I truly believe self critique is a super power as a photographer, and I am hoping to help you along this journey and to refine how and why you capture photos.

It happens every year and I am always excited to try something new or just nail something I missed last year. I believe a lot of getting better at photography is to keep a running list of missed images that need a tweak from event to event. It gives me a starting point the next year (helps me not feel overwhelmed of where to start on big events) and keeps me thinking about what is a good image.

Opening Day! We have been creating the portraits and headshots you see on billboards, on the scoreboard and throughout the branding! This is our third year and we are very proud of the images we have created for them! Good luck caps!

Wren is at acting school and needed some headshots — but we didn’t stop there.
We wandered the walkways of a downtown Grand Rapids parking garage and found some incredible light that was just too good to pass up.
No stiff posing, no formal setups. Just Wren moving through the space naturally, and some really compelling portraits that came out of it.
If you’re a student, performer, or creative who needs headshots (and maybe a few shots that show a little more of who you are), let’s talk.
