Happy National Camera Day!📸
Cameras are truly wonderful things that I don’t think we appreciate enough. I love my professional camera so much, but a lot of my favorite photos were taken with my phone instead.
I’ve found myself trying to document more of my life through photos. I know a lot of people will argue that I should live in the moment rather than take pictures of everything, but I’ve gathered a few thoughts about capturing different moments of my life and why I do it:
Photos allow us to capture a moment, and keep it alive. Though we can’t actually jump back into the moment, photos let us relive different times in our life.
For example, one of the pictures below is a beautiful sunset I captured out in Sparta. Significance? This was taken the night I went and picked up the ashes of our dog Kane. In the moment I felt reassurance. Reassurance that our boy was safe, and he was happy. He gave us a sign and thats exactly what we asked him to do before we said goodbye. And now I have a beautiful picture to show and bring me back to the night.
I attached all of these pictures because although I didn’t take them with my big, expensive camera, I took them because they had meaning to me. And if I didn’t take them, I attached them because they have a meaning and bring me back to a moment that’s important to me.
I think in all of this what I’m saying is: take the picture. Take the video. Ask for a picture to be taken. When memories start to fade, pictures are there to help keep them alive.
If you’ve made it through my post, hey thanks for reading! But now I want to see your favorite photo(s) you’ve either taken or had taken. Post your picture in the comments below and tell me the meaning behind it!⬇️⬇️⬇️
