One of the things I love most about sports photography is finding images beyond the action.

I put together a collection of black-and-white photographs from the Fargo Woodchippers game Friday night, focusing on the people, details, emotion, and atmosphere that make baseball special.

Some are action photos. Some are moments. Some are simply light and shadow.

Together they tell the story of a summer night at the ballpark.

Fun night at Newman Outdoor Field covering the FM Redhawks who rebranded as the Fargo Woodchippers for the night. They hosted the Winnipeg Goldeyes and downed Winnipeg 10-2. They followed the game with a great firework display as well. Here are a few photos!

I know that most find this boring, but bear with me. They are refilling the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall.,

I travel to Washington DC a couple times a year, and have been there 7 or 8 times in the last 5 years, and have observed the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall many many times.

It's always a little different, sometimes full, sometimes so low on water the bottom is showing on the sides. Usually murky, green and dirty, but still an amazing view from the Lincoln Memorial and the World War II Memorial.

So, it's been fun to follow along with the repairs being done prior to the upcoming 250th Birthday celebration of our country.

They emptied the pool, cleaned out all the trash, bird p**p and algae, and put down a new flag blue epoxy sealant that is suppose to contain or slow down some of the leaks (it leaks a lot). They are now filling it before doing some sandblasting and cleaning of the walkways around it.

Here are some of my photos from there over the past few years, and a screen grab from today as they start to refill it.
