When we first arrived in North Dakota, I kept hearing chirping sounds, but it didn't sound like any bird I had ever heard. I soon discovered the high-pitch chirping sound was the alarm call of the Richardon's ground squirrel, or Dak rat as they are known here. These little rodents are numerous and have adapted well to urban living, causing them to be somewhat of a pest due to the burrows they dig and destruction they cause to foundations, landscapes, and farmlands.

This one was brave enough to leave its burrow and snag some fallen bird seed from my yard.

I've been trying to capture the new fawns I've been seeing around, but they are pretty elusive. So God blessed me with seeing this piebald beauty this morning. She was pretty sus of me at first, but eventually she got used to the shutter sound. This is the second piebald deer I have seen in this area.
