Photographing wounded special forces was off limits. This is the blood from a fatal gunshot wound to the head of a US Special Forces member. The day before, I saw him walking and laughing with other Special Forces members. Those same friends stood next to me and watched him die.

I’ve been studying photography for the last 25 years. In 2009, I was appointed as the official photographer for the Bagram Airfield Trauma Center in Afghanistan at the height of the war. In 2012, I spent two years living in the tribe of Buscalan in the Kalinga mountains of the Philippines working on my thesis project. In 2014 I graduated with my masters degree in documentary photography from the Academy of Art University out of San Francisco. Thank you for allowing me to share part of my world with you.
