keeps me on my toes and constantly makes me laugh, smile and scratch my head. My younger two were up stairs giggling, working away creating a fashion show for a good chunk of time. Once they asked for a Madonna "Vogue" music request I knew it was time to get my big dog camera. Mom's only request was that our 6 year old not walk down the stairs in her high heels. Something I overlooked.

As many of you may know I'm not a fan of doing the same thing twice. I love a good adventure and seeing new places. I mean the world is beautiful and massive, why not explore it. But, I must say it's been really fun going back to the exact same location with the same couple and capturing them as their life unfolds. Our story with Derek and Waverly began on their wedding day back in October of 2021. Since then we did a relaxed post-wedding session a week after they tied the knot, baby bump shots two years later and photos of them as mom and dad with their precious little girl this past August. All at the same location, but in completely different phases of their life. This post will take you back in time as their life unfolds. Thank you Derek and Waverly for inviting us into your life and trusting us to capture moments that shape your world. You two look at each other (and Lotus) in the most loving and genuine way.

It has occured to me (Jake) on several occasions that I have done just about as bad of a job as one can marketing our photography business. For one, I am not a fan of social media. And for two, I am not a person that likes to share all that much about my life. These are all pathetic excuses. Over the past several years I've been lucky and Jess has done all the social media posts and communication. But, Jess is a very busy girl these days going back to school in pursuit of her masters in Interior Design, working for 2-4-1 Sports and being the clear head of a three kid house.
I told myself that come December I was going to start sharing more about what we've been up to over the past year. Well, that time has come so here we go. Please excuse my poor grammar and random thoughts.

I'm going to first highlight a wedding we photographed in the beginning of June (best month of the year IMO) at the Elizabeth Park in West Hartford, CT. This wedding was no ordinary wedding because one of the brides was a girl I coached for several years on the Watkinson School Cross Country team. Anna E. is literally the sweetest girl in the whole wide world and she was one of my favorites. Anna doesn't have a mean bone in her body and her smile/laugh is pure gold. When she contacted me to photograph her wedding I was intrigued to meet her match. Who would be the lucky one to snag Anna?! Turns out Anna found one of those rare gems, Ally. Ally is her opposite but in the best possible way. Fun-loving, adventurous and totally unique. I mean she hiked the whole Appalachian Trail so she got my stamp of approval right away.
At any rate the wedding was a blast and I never got to officially thank Anna and Ally for choosing us (or post any photos). Thanks!
On a side note, if you want a feast for your eyes plan a visit to the Rose Gardens at Elizabeth Park in West Hartford, CT around mid to late June. If you want to bump it up a notch go get some take out from Tangiers on the West Hartford/Hartford line and have a picnic. Their lamb Gyro is amazing!

Time is flying in 2024! Punxsutawney Phil says spring is coming early. But I am not sure this house is ready to let go of ski season! Let’s be honest, if it isn’t going to be warm, there better be some snow. I think every couple feels the same way about their winter wedding. A January wedding can feel magical when surrounded by a blanket of snow even with cold temps. These two had one of the coldest days on record. But they braved the cold to capture the snowy photos from the recent snow. Despite the frosty fingers, we love the beauty of a snow covered ground.

Saturday was coooold! But nothing would stop these two from braving the temps and the wind to capture the winter wedding dream. Although we haven’t seen too much snow in CT this winter, last snow arrived just in time to leave the perfect blanket for photos. There is much more to share, but this little teaser perfectly highlights these two. They are full of love, joy, and constant smiles for each other. We were truly honored to capture this day. Even I got teary-eyed during their first look!

When photographing the littles, looking back on the expressions is always the best part. This session produced some actual LOL! The little moments of joy, sibling interaction, and life as a parent are what we seek to capture. This session had it all. Here are a few photos that highlight all these things.

One of my favorite times during a family session is when we get Mom and Dad to take a photo. As parents, we never put ourselves behind the camera. The kids are cute. Life is busy. We forget to cherish our love story. So, we will always take a moment to capture the two people that started it all. It may take a minute to remember what photos are like without the kids but it is always worth it.

Somehow Fall always feels supercharged. It seems like everyone around us feels like a spinning top as well. The weekends are stacked with so many activities. Fun can be exhausting! Am I right?! Sometimes we need a reminder to stop and enjoy the little moments. This is what we love to create and capture in our photo sessions. These are fleeting moments easily overlooked and forgotten during the busy days and daily hustle. We like to save them. Here are just a few from some recent sessions.
