I've always been drawn to creativity and art..if you've ever been at my mom's or dad's house, you'd see wood projects i made during my time at high school. If you've been to my house, you'd see my art, creations and wood projects I've made displayed all throughout.
Before I knew galleries were a thing, I loved walking down the wall art aisles in hobby lobby, doing those paint by numbers and even did some of those metallic scratch art things. (Not gonna lie, I still enjoy those aisles!)
One of my most favorite "art memories" though was my first time visiting the western art gallery in pawhuska. I walked in and was in complete AWE. When I say I fell hard and fast for a good western gallery, there was no going back for me. The owner had all styles of art, bronze work, metal art, photography and the lighting was perfectly ambient without being too bright or too dark. I only went a small handful of times but every time, there was a seed being planted, watered and nourished in the back of my mind.
One piece of art that was there that just stuck with me, was a piece I believe Cody Hammer created. It was a native American woman, in her regalia holding a piece of maize up in the air. It reminded me a lot of the statue of liberty, does anyone else remember that piece?
I miss that gallery being in pawhuska and I wish I had gotten to know the owner a bit better, it was hands down the coolest place in town.
