🔥🚫 Fire restrictions go into effect Thursday, July 17 on Mt. Hood National Forest.

All campfires, charcoal or briquette fires, pellet fires, or any other open fires are prohibited per Forest Order across the entire Forest, including in developed campgrounds. Portable cooking stoves, lanterns, and heating devices using liquefied or bottled fuel, such as propane, are allowed as they can be switched off instantly.

Fire restrictions vary across national forests and state/federally managed lands. Make sure you always check restrictions in advance. Don't be the spark.

Sometimes Mt. Hood Wilderness decides for you. Andy Preston Falls had already dried up (🤯) so we decided to head over towards Lackawanna Falls. Made it up above that one to the 100+ foot chute that curls around into this 80-ish foot multi-tier beast. Last time I got that far there was snow! Well my buddy and I tried to get above it, but ran out of time and the hill was getting steep! I know there is another monster behind this, the topographic map says so! Who’s coming with me?!!? Let’s go find something amazing!!!!!

Mini adventure the other day. Warming up for the return trip to Andrew Preston Falls next week. I’ve never found petrified wood this high up before. Pretty awesome that you can see the obvious burn damage. Mt. Hood Wilderness wins every single time!

Always good to get back to the motherland. Gifford Pinchot National Forest. It’s a totally different feeling from anywhere else in the universe. This particular area was part of the historic Yacolt Burn fires and also logged over 100 years ago. There are remnants of 1,000+ year old forest everywhere, and has 100-200+ year old trees on top. This is why events like the Eagle Creek Fire are just a bump in the road. This place was decimated and now this is what it looks like! This is just one slice of what’s out there….lets go find something amazing!!!

Sad day. But this has been a long time coming. This is why I don’t fully disclose many locations I go to, and may ask you to keep more in the family if you join. Dont let the “influencers” ruin the Great Pacific Northwest!
