Two little octos? Well, obviously they need a friend.

And once you've got three...

Apparently, you've started a collection. 🤣

That's one of my favorite things about making these little guys — every color gives them a completely different personality, and somehow, it's impossible for me to make just ONE.

Here's a peek at what's currently on my crochet hook!

I'm working on another batch of these little F-Bombs to get ready for the upcoming fall craft shows.

And yes...apparently I have reached the stage of my crochet career where I sit around making bombs before breakfast. 🤣🧶

These little guys have been SO much fun to make—and they're surprisingly quick once I get going.

So this is what the Attic looks like today:

There. I said it. 😂

Not because you need a tiny crocheted frog that fits in the palm of your hand.

Not because you need one hanging from your keys or backpack.

And certainly not because having a brightly colored little frog tagging along with you is going to solve all of life's problems.

But really...

Have you LOOKED at his little face?! 😂🐸

Sometimes “it made me smile” is a perfectly good reason to have something.

Sometimes an idea looks a whole lot simpler in your head. 😂🧶

When I decided to design a chunky yellow submarine, I knew what I wanted — a big, squishy little submarine that looked fun, recognizable and huggable.

Then I had to figure out how to actually CROCHET the thing. 😂

The body was one challenge. Then came the windows, the propeller, the periscope and all those little details that make a submarine look like…well…a submarine!

And I've learned even more since releasing the pattern. I recently tried making the body with a thinner chenille yarn and discovered very quickly that yarn choice makes a HUGE difference. My submarine came out much smaller, and suddenly all those carefully designed pieces didn't fit the way they were supposed to. 🤦‍♀️😂

That's part of designing crochet patterns that you don't always see in the finished photo — experimenting, changing things, making mistakes, taking notes and occasionally saying, “Well, THAT didn't work!”

But eventually, this funny little yellow submarine came out of all that trial and error. 💛

And I still smile every time I look at him.

❤️ Today's shoutout goes to Debbie Chinos!

When I finish designing a crochet pattern, I'm not REALLY finished. 😂 Before I can confidently hand those instructions over to another crocheter, somebody else needs to pick up a hook and try to make it from what I wrote.

Debbie has been one of those very important people behind the scenes at Nana's Attic.

She has tested both Déogee the Puppy and my Rocket Ship crochet pattern, working through my instructions and helping me make sure another crocheter can follow along and end up with the creation I intended. 🧶

Pattern testers don't usually get their names splashed across the front of the finished pattern, but their work matters. Having another crocheter actually USE the instructions is an important part of turning my scribbles, stitch counts and crazy ideas into a pattern I'm ready to release. 😂

So today I'm putting Debbie in the spotlight.

Thank you, Debbie, for the time, yarn and crochet hours you've given to helping Nana's Attic patterns become better patterns. ❤️

Meet Marshmallow! 🤍🐶

This sweet, squishy pup is looking for someone to cuddle! Marshmallow is crocheted with super-soft Premier Parfait Chunky yarn and measures approximately 12" tall and 16" around his chubby little belly. 😂

He has safety eyes, floppy ears, and is just about as huggable as a marshmallow can get.

Okay, you get to boss Nana around today. 😂🧶

I've been having so much fun creating my chunky transportation patterns, and there are several more vehicles rattling around in my head.

But which one should eventually make it onto my crochet hook?
