My photographic journey started in the year 2000 when I began taking pictures for my own documentation and enjoyment. Over the next 10 years, I became increasingly more immersed in the process. I realized in 2010 that being a photographer is what I am. I attended the Art Institute of Fort Worth and pursued a Bachelor's of Fine Art in Photography. This is where I discovered how deep my passion went
. With the encouragement of my professors, I began studying the origins of photography. I was introduced to Wet Plate Collodion, a chemical photographic process created in the 1800's by Frederick Scott Archer. This solidified my passion. Continuing my history studies, I jumped back into film. Another process that, to this day, I still love creating. (I shoot and develop my own film in various sizes from 35mm to 4x5 film)
I graduated in 2013 with high honors. With every photo session, event, and client, I bring that passion and knowledge to create a truly representative image. My years diving into the various modern and historical processes has given me a wide range of tools to use to create those images. I am based in North Charleston, SC. I can produce images for architectural, portraiture, weddings, and commercial on digital, film, and wet plate collodion. I have two beautiful daughters, Elinor and Samantha. My image of the Fuller House in Fort Worth appeared on the front page of the Star Telegram. I have been known to wear a black photography vest on my photo shoots which is the reason for the name Black Vest Photo.
