Today is “Walk like Woodie Day” in honor off the man, myth, and Legend, Dr. Woodie Flowers. He missed very much by the FIRST community!

I realized today that while I posted on my personal page, I did not post here about the passing of a great man, mentor, hero, and friend... Dr. Woodie Flowers. The entire FIRST community is feeling the loss.

I saw a request by one group for photos with Woodie for a project. So I went in to my archives of FTC World Championships, FTC East Super Regionals and the events to create a collection I’d Woodie pictures. Please feel free to use any of these to honor him.

I was stuck by one thing as I looked back through these photos if you look at the candid photos there is always a smile on Woodies face and when he was talking to anyone (whether student, mentor volunteer or sponsor) you could tell that he was genuinely in that moment giving the person his full attention. He made the person feel special and to him that prison was special. That was just how Woodie was. He will be missed but FIRST will go in and we can each do our past to live like he wanted us to and practice gracious professionalism.
