On this day in 2025, Lerro Photography sponsored a 1940s pin-up photo shoot at the American Air Power Museum on Long Island, New York.

We had a blast stepping back in time and recreating some of the classic pin-up scenes made famous during World War II. With vintage aircraft, period-inspired outfits, and great models, the museum provided the perfect backdrop for bringing the iconic look and feel of 1940s aviation pin-up photography to life.

Way back in 2014, Lerro Photography helped organize an Army Air Force photo shoot in conjunction with the Train Expo 2014 event in Owosso, Michigan.

In this video, we see B-17 “Yankee Lady” taking off as our group of reenactors waves goodbye, creating a memorable scene for our photographers. As impressive as the sound is in the video, it doesn’t come close to doing justice to what it was like to stand there in person and hear those four engines come to life and roar overhead.

At the time, we had no idea where this experience would lead. This was our very first AAF photo shoot, and it marked the beginning of an amazing adventure into aviation photography.
What started with one photo shoot more than a decade ago has grown into countless opportunities to photograph historic aircraft, work with incredible reenactors and organizations, and create scenes that help bring aviation history back to life.
It’s always fun to look back at where it all started.

Catching the perfect golden hour light on a true legend of the skies. 🌅✈️

This stunning WWI German Fokker F.I 102/17 triplane replica was captured bringing history to life during the Thunder Over Michigan airshow at the Flight Museum. There’s nothing quite like seeing those classic lines and three wings silhouetted against a brilliant sunset.

Under the Stars: Monument Valley (2022)
There is nothing quite like standing among the iconic giants of Monument Valley at night, watching the Milky Way stretch across the desert sky. This shot from our 2022 workshop brings back incredible memories of crisp night air, brilliant stars, and the timeless silhouette of the mittens.
