🚨 URGENT: SCHOOL BOY MUST LEAVE BY TUESDAY, 5/19 at 6 PM 🚨
Please arrive at least 1 hour before closing to meet him!

🐾 Meet School Boy (A568594)
🗓️ 5 years old • ♂️ Male • ⚖️ 61 lbs

At first, “School Boy” sounded like such a random name… but once we heard more about him, it actually seems kind of perfect 😄

Because this boy has class clown energy in the best possible way.

If you’re looking for a dog who brings his own party wherever he goes, School Boy is ready to apply for the position immediately. For this guy, “ball is life” isn’t just a saying — it’s basically a full-time career path.

At 5 years old, School Boy has a zest for life that is absolutely infectious. Whether he’s chasing toys, romping around the yard, or looking for his next adventure, he seems happiest when he has something fun to do and people to share it with.

Volunteers also shared that once the toys were put away and his energy was out, School Boy became a total softie. He loves leaning in for pets and seems more than happy to trade a tennis ball for ear scratches and affection after a fun day.

🐶 And honestly, his Rough & Rowdy playgroup notes surprise absolutely no one 😂 Caretakers described him as steerable and semi-engaged— this boy clearly LOVES to play and tends to bring big enthusiasm into interactions. He got a little too frisky with the other dogs, earning himself an early exit - but shelter dogs often carry a lot of pent-up energy and stress, and behaviors like this may improve significantly once dogs are neutered, exercised consistently, and settled into a home environment.

Honestly, he sounds like the ultimate adventure buddy — the kind of dog who would happily join you for park trips, backyard play sessions, or just making ordinary days way more entertaining.

✨ Please note: The shelter can be a stressful and overwhelming place, and a dog’s behavior here may not fully reflect how they’ll continue to develop once they feel safe and settled in a home.

🚨 URGENT: KINGSTON MUST LEAVE BY TUESDAY, 5/19 at 6 PM 🚨
Please arrive at least 1 hour before closing to meet him!

🐾 Meet Kingston (A569031)
🗓️ 7 years old • ♂️ Male • ⚖️ 71 lbs • American Staffordshire Terrier

Kingston is 7 years old… but apparently nobody has informed Kingston of that fact 😂

This happy guy seems fully convinced he’s still about 2 years old and honestly? We love that for him.

Volunteers shared that once Kingston got outside, he absolutely lit up. He thoroughly enjoyed his “sniffari,” happily accepted treats and affection, and seemed so genuinely joyful just being out in the world.

🐾 Very friendly and social
🐾 Treat motivated
🐾 Loves pets and cuddles
🐾 Potties outside right away
🐾 Full of life and enthusiasm
🐾 Very strong on leash and “working on leash manners” 😄

Yes, this boy definitely comes with zest for life included at no extra charge. And honestly, there’s something really lovable about that. Kingston doesn’t move through life like an “old dog.” He seems to wake up excited for every smell, every walk, every person willing to give him attention.

🐶 Kingston was briefly part of a Push/Pull playgroup where he was described as steerable and semi-engaged, but he became a little too frisky and had an early exit. No aggression noted in playgroup, though. The shelter environment can be incredibly stressful and overstimulating, especially for energetic dogs with pent-up energy, so behaviors like this may improve significantly with neuter, decompression, and time in a home environment.

Volunteers repeatedly described Kingston as a really good dog - one with a huge personality and an equally huge enthusiasm for life.

✨ Please note: The shelter can be a stressful and overwhelming place, and a dog’s behavior here may not fully reflect how they’ll continue to develop once they feel safe and settled in a home.

🤎 Kingston still wakes up every day excited about life. It would be heartbreaking if a dog with this much joy and spirit never got the chance to spend his golden years truly loved.

You may have seen our cute adoption promo posted an hour ago. We’ve deleted it. The situation at BARCS has drastically changed in the past few hours. We are now negative dog space. More than 100 animals have come in over the past 48 hours, with 60 of those arriving since last night. The majority are dogs, which are much harder to move around and house safely. Animal Control is on the way with another truck full.

Our kennels are full. Our intake temp kennels are full. Our offices are full. There is no more place to put our dogs. We are in crisis. And it’s terrible timing for a Friday night. Without getting too in the weeds, social media engagement sucks on Fridays.

We need a full adoption lobby tomorrow morning when we open at 11AM, or we are going to have to make heartbreaking choices for space. Our biggest need is adoption and/or fostering of big dogs. Fees are waived for all animals through 3/1.

Can you help?
Can you share this post?
Can you tell your friend who said they were thinking about getting a dog that tomorrow is the day?

Not able to drive to Baltimore? We will also be at Petco Timonium from 12–4PM tomorrow hosting an adoption event.

Please, Baltimore, we need you. We love these dogs and want to save their lives.
