I wanted to share a little more about how my Give Back Project is going to work, because I’ve had a few people ask about the sessions and how they can help.

This project is about helping three families in our community receive something they may not otherwise be able to afford.

For those who may not know, my family sessions are $275. That includes the entire session, usually 1–2 hours, and every usable image from the session. There’s no picking and choosing your favorites, no additional cost for more images, and no surprise fees afterward. Sessions can also be broken up between different days, times, or locations to make things work best for each family.

For this project, I’m providing the photography for these three families, and I’m simply asking our community to help make the sessions possible. There is absolutely no set amount. If you’d like to be part of it, $5, $10, $25, or whatever you’re comfortable contributing all helps move us a little closer to covering the cost of another family’s session.

I’ll be honest, I had really hoped to see a little more community participation with this. Not because I expect anyone to give, but because I genuinely thought this could be a really cool way for all of us to come together and help three local families create memories they’ll have for years.

I completely understand that everyone has their own circumstances, and nobody should feel obligated to contribute. If you can’t give financially, sharing the post, commenting, liking it, or helping get it in front of someone who may want to participate is still a way to help.

Regardless of what is raised, these three families are still getting their sessions. I made a commitment to them, and I’m going to keep it.

I also want to be transparent that this will be the last time I take on a project like this. I really wanted to give it a try and see what we could accomplish together, but taking on the cost of three full sessions myself isn’t something I can continue doing.

So if you’ve been wondering whether even a small amount makes a difference, it really does. ❤️

🚨EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY🚨

I will no longer be posting identifiable images of children on my photography page, signed release or not.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals just ruled that privately possessing AI-generated CSAM depicting “fictional” children can be constitutionally protected when it stays within the home.

That is enough for me to say I will not be a part of the problem. If our government and laws aren’t going to adequately protect children from what AI can do with their images, then I feel a responsibility to do my part to protect them.

I always want to give my honest attempt at living on the correct side of history.

The safety of children and my clients will always come before my business. Your children are safe here! I strongly encourage everyone to do the same. We need to protect the children at all costs❤️

Okay, I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for a while, and I finally decided to just do it.

📸 The BWise Give Back Project 📸

I know not every family can comfortably fit professional photos into their budget, but I also know how quickly our families grow and change. Sometimes the people who deserve to be in the photos the most are the ones who are always behind the camera, taking care of everyone else.

So I want to change that for a few families❤️

Here’s how it works:

NOMINATE A FAMILY

Comment below and nominate a family you think deserves the opportunity to have professional family photos. Tell me a little about them and why you think they should be chosen.

You can absolutely nominate your own family, too. No explanation needed if you’d rather keep it simple.

THREE FAMILIES WILL BE CHOSEN

Once nominations close, I’ll personally choose THREE families who I feel this project was meant for.

Each family will receive a complimentary B.Wise family session, completely on me💕

HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN

I’ll be covering these sessions myself, but I wanted to give our community the opportunity to help make this project possible.

My goal is to cover $800 of the cost of providing these three sessions.

If you’d like to contribute toward the project, you can contribute whatever amount you’d like. $5, $10, $25, $50… there’s no set amount and absolutely no pressure to contribute.

Every little bit helps.

And if contributing isn’t in the cards for you, THAT IS OKAY. You can still nominate a family, share this post, or simply help spread the word!

A little business owner thought that’s been living rent free in my head lately…

There is room for everyone in this industry. There really is. Different photographers have different styles, different prices, different strengths, and different things they offer. I will never be the person who thinks someone else succeeding takes away from my own success.

But I will say this…

Being good at what you do and being good at running a business are two completely different things.

I’ve watched a handful of photographers come and go, pop back up, book a bunch of people, disappear, come back with a million new ideas, add another service, start another venture, announce another project, and somehow continue taking on more and more while the work they already accepted is sitting unfinished.

And I just… don’t understand it.

If I am behind, I am BEHIND. 😂 I don’t need another project. I don’t need another service. I don’t need another booking. I need to sit my ass down and get the people who already trusted me taken care of.

I’m currently behind on sessions from late June and it genuinely makes me feel sick. My first thought isn’t, “What else can I add to my business?”

It’s “How do I get caught up?”

Because those aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet. Those are people who gave me their money and trusted me with memories that can’t be recreated.

And maybe I’m just built differently, but I could never feel comfortable continuing to collect money from new clients while knowing I haven’t fulfilled my commitments to the people who came before them.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having multiple passions. There is nothing wrong with expanding. There is nothing wrong with trying new things.

But sometimes I think we have to ask ourselves:

Am I expanding because my business is thriving, or am I constantly adding things because I haven’t figured out how to manage what’s already on my plate?

Because having a million things going on doesn’t automatically mean you’re successful.

And having amazing work doesn’t automatically mean you’re running a good business.

Your work can be beautiful. Your talent can be undeniable. And your business practices can still be a mess.

That’s the part people don’t always want to talk about.

Personally, I’d rather grow slowly, stay consistent, keep my promises, and know that the people who book me are being taken care of than chase every opportunity that comes my way just because I can.

There is room for everyone.

But there is also something to be said for knowing your limits, honoring your commitments, and actually being present for the business you already built. 🤎
