Ella has such a cool vibe and I told her I want to be like her when I grow up! It was great to dust off my camera and capture this senior session, we had so much fun :)

While I love an excuse to be all cozy indoors in the winter, I hadn't realized how much I needed some fresh air and sunlight. It felt like we hadn't had a sunny day or temps above 15 in months, but the day of Ella's senior photos delivered a perfect evening for us! The 30 degree air, sunshine, and fresh air (even with the biting wind) was exactly what we needed.

I'm not booking new clients and still weighing what the future holds - do any of us ever really finally feel grown up? But I couldn't resist sharing a bit of this winter magic with you.

Sharing not for likes, or to promote sessions, or for any reason other than this - a beautiful session with a wonderful family that made my heart happy.

We had a perfect mix of posed images and fun moments - movement, laughter, twirling dresses and beautiful light. Allowing emotion in your photos allows you to *return* to those emotions, year after year.

I've heard parents say "We're not here to have fun, we're here to have our pictures taken!" and that couldn't be further from the truth. Not with me, anyway. I want the fun, the chaos, the beauty of your life as it really is.

I'll admit it's a little hard to know what to share right now. I want to appreciate the beautiful moments we've captured and share them with you, but it's also hard to remember the joy of doing so, the hope I felt in my business, knowing now that it wouldn't last.

For now I'm just catching up on past sessions and looking forward to some cozy, introspective downtime this winter. I don't know what the future holds, but I'm grateful for the time I had with families like this one, and for where I'm at right now with a steady paycheck and a job I enjoy more than I ever did before. I'm happy, and I'm trusting the process.

I wish a warm, cozy, peaceful winter for all of you, with love.

I just sent out a special-edition email listing photographers that I know are hosting Christmas minis this year. It's the first time in many years that I haven't hosted them, so I want to be sure my clients are still able to find someone they love to work with, and have magical memories captured!

I'm anxious to get working on the photos from our trip to Italy from September, but so far I've only managed this one - it's my absolute favorite and I can't wait to hang it up! Their little 2 year old basically sitting in my lap the whole session, trying to peer into my camera from 3 inches away, absolutely melted me heart. It reminded me just how much I miss the little-kid stage sometimes.

I wouldn't ask to go back to it - I love the stage my kids are at too much, where we can laugh hysterically at jokes as friends, where I can see them growing into the adults they will soon be - but I sure can miss it all the same.

I absolutely do have images of all eyes open, facing the camera, smiling brightly. But I've always craved moments like these more.

When sisters are seeing who can pick the biggest bouquet, throw their arms around each other in a hug, and dissolve into giggles.

When mom glances at her partner and says, without a word, how much she adores him and the family they've created.

Pictures are more than just what you look like - they tell the story of what your life feels like, right now in this moment.

Hello all, I had to come on and share this maternity session that we captured a few weeks ago - we couldn't have asked for a better evening, especially being that it rained before and immediately after.

I hope you got to enjoy summer's last hurrah this weekend. My daughter and I had a wonderful girls' day Saturday - we made iced pumpkin chais, and took a road trip to Miners Beach. We had the windows down and listened to "The Life of a Showgirl" 4 and a half times ("Father Figure" is my favorite and "Actually Romantic" is hers). We had a picnic on the beach, got to watch a wedding, and the whole day was such a perfect vibe - one of those core memory days for sure.

I'm so ready to wear a sweater and turn off the air conditioning, but I will absolutely not complain one bit about one last dance with summer ☀️

If, after 12 years of snuggling babies, and 7 years in my beautiful studio space, I had to have a last newborn session - I am so, so glad it was this one. I could not have asked for a better way to end things.

These twins were born July 7th, and had a lengthy NICU stay once they joined the world. They'd been out of the womb so long that we were all a little unsure how the session would go - they're used to stretching and taking in the world around them, where most of my babies are still used to being curled up in mama's belly.

Add in the fact that their brother is just over a year old, and I wasn't about to make any plans set in stone! I had goals in mind but was ready to flex with whatever we needed to.

All 3 of these boys though far surpassed all my expectations. They were absolutely the sweetest, and my heart melted into a puddle at least 10 times in the hours we were together.

I'm so, so grateful for all the babies I've been able to capture. For the beauty I've been allowed to add to the world. And to have such an epic session to end it all with ❤️

Hello all!

I've been quiet around here - in part because I was just on vacation and in a different time zone for 2 weeks, in part because life is absolutely crazy right now, and also in part because my business is in a weird place.

With closing out the studio, I don't want to be promoting studio sessions. And, it feels wrong to talk about these things in a caption for some really, really cute families who deserve more than that. So I've been avoiding the topic a bit, to be honest!

I couldn't resist sharing a few more from this adorable one year session though. Presley is like a doll, or a character from a classic painting. She has so much personality and I absolutely loved capturing it for this milestone.

Sometime soon I'll dive deeper into everything - it's all just a bit of a whirlwind right now and I need to see where everything falls when it settles down, to really evaluate and see what the future might hold. For now, enjoy this cuteness, and enjoy the weather, and enjoy the beautiful parts of life itself. It's out there, I promise.
