For five seasons now, I have been the accidental but honored photographer for the Gillette Wild Junior Hockey team. I am not a professional by any means but I give this hockey-photo thing my best effort. Because it occurred to me, not long after I started shooting the team, that each of these young men who comes to play for us has a mama, daddy, grandparent and/or friends who miss them in their ab
sence (a lot of our players are home-grown but many come from far away). And being a mother myself, I wondered if taking a few pictures here and there and posting them on FB might help those lonely mothers. It was the only way I could think of to help as I knew nothing about hockey at the time. I was amazed at the overwhelming positive response to the few pictures I posted (on our personal FB page) in the beginning from the friends and family of our players who were, indeed, missing their boys. Thus, a few photos turned into many and, as a consequence, I've had the privilege of meeting and visiting with many of those amazing hockey moms and dads who have so generously "loaned" their boys to our community to play. Those "boys" also coach our two children and a wonderful cycle of coach to player to kids is our privilege to witness. In an effort to curb using our personal FB page to post these photos (as there have been a lot of them), I created this page just for the hockey pictures. That should be easier for all of you as well. If you are on this page, you are most-likely a GW player, parent or fan and we welcome you. This page will be a place to visit for photos and positive, productive support of our players and the visiting teams. I only have two rules: 1) Since this is NOT the locker room, please no profanity when/if you comment as fans of all ages may visit this site, and 2) I would like this site to show a good example of excellent sportsmanship - not be a place to cut down our opponent or each other. Please understand, this is NOT the official Gillette Wild Junior Hockey page. This page is just for the team photos and postings from a fan's perspective. There is a Gillette Wild Junior Hockey page that we follow constantly and that is where you will find all team, game and news information. Please check out and "like" that page as well. My photos are meant for sharing so I hope you do just that. I know not everyone has FB (ie: grandparents, etc.). I'd like to give a big thank you to the players and coaches who make up the Gillette Wild Junior Hockey team. Thanks for your patience with me and my camera, for allowing me to capture the good, the not-so-good, the (sometimes) embarrassing but almost always amazing moments of your time on (and off) the ice, for your sense of humor and for your graciousness. Win or lose, this is a memorable time in your lives and I will do my best to give you something to remember it by. :) -T
