I got to see the elusive American Bittern yesterday. I joke about it dancing but this behavior is a camouflage tactic that mimics its natural habitat among the reeds next to the water. This bird was a lifer for me and I think is now one of my favorites ever due to how strange it is.

There were so many crows on my recent trip. Of course I took too many pictures of them! This one was especially fun since it is fluffed up from the cool weather and you can see its nictitating membrane in action as well. I will stop and take too many pictures again despite the very mild protesting of DAVID L ๐Ÿ˜‚

I took a few day trip this week and got to see some really cool birds. The Stellers Jay has been a bucket list bird for me! It was kind enough to hang out for a few minutes and put on a good show while hunting for bugs in the trees.
