Mama, take it from me… the first birthday sneaks up on you. 🥹

I’m saying this as both a mama AND a photographer.

One minute you’re holding your tiny baby, and the next you’re looking at a ONE YEAR OLD wondering where the time went.

And if I could give every mama one piece of advice, it would be this:

Don’t wait until the month of their birthday to schedule the cake smash.

I recommend booking 3–4 months in advance and planning to photograph your little one around 11 months old.

Why?

Because there’s so much more to a cake smash than just picking a date.

We need time to plan the theme, choose the cake, coordinate outfits, style the family, work around siblings’ school schedules, and make sure everyone is there.

And then there’s what happens AFTER the session.

You want your photos back with enough time to order those beautiful prints, portraits, canvases, wall art, and custom albums before the big birthday celebration. ❤️

More planning time means less stress for you.

And that’s exactly why I’m here to help. I can help you plan the theme, styling, outfits, cake, and all the little details so you aren’t trying to pull everything together at the last minute.

Because your baby’s first birthday deserves to be enjoyed—not spent stressing over everything you forgot to plan. 🥹💕

There’s something so special about bedtime baths with siblings. 🤍

He was completely tuned in to his baby sister—watching her every move, noticing the little things, and always ready to help however she needed. He wasn’t just beside her; he was paying attention.

You could see that big brother instinct kicking in, even in the simplest moments of bath time. 🥹

And these sweet tub moments are actually captured at the end of my cake smash sessions!

After all the cake, smiles, and mess, we finish with a little splash in the tub. It’s always such a fun way to wrap up the session—and sometimes, those are the images that end up telling the sweetest stories.

Because these ordinary moments—splashing, giggling, helping, and loving on each other—are the moments they’ll treasure most someday. 🤍

And honestly, I think she’s pretty lucky to have a big brother who already watches over her so closely. ✨

There’s something so incredibly special about watching a family grow in front of my camera. 🤍

The first time I photographed this sweet family, they were expecting their little girl, Chrysanthemum.

We documented her mama’s maternity session, then her newborn days, her cake smash… and now, somehow, that tiny newborn is two and a half years old and about to become a big sister. 🥹

This time, there was no newborn in their arms. Instead, there was a little girl running through the flower fields, laughing, exploring, and soaking up every second with her mama and daddy.

And then we pulled out the shoes. 🥹

For Chrysanthemum’s maternity photos, we did a sweet little detail shot with her tiny Chucks. This time, they brought out a brand-new pair of little Chucks for their newest baby girl.

Same family. Same little tradition. A whole new chapter.

These are the moments that make being a photographer so much more than taking pretty pictures.

I get to meet families when they’re expecting, watch their babies grow, photograph their milestones, and then welcome them back years later as their families change and grow.

Getting to photograph their story from maternity → newborn → cake smash → big sisterhood is such a gift.

📆 And if you’re expecting, a little reminder: maternity sessions are best scheduled after the first trimester between 4–6 months in advance so we can make sure we have the perfect date reserved for you.
