This is a lovely person, inside and out, and has an impressive work ethic. No doubt this girl is bound for great things.

Delaney maintains a very busy schedule in high school. She is the varsity girls soccer captain and also plays softball. She is a member of National Honor Society, is the student council president, and the senior class president. In her spare time, Delaney enjoys reading.

Her family would tell you that Delaney is hardworking and caring. She is described as a "go-getter" and determined. She is a natural leader and team player who is motivated, dedicated, and goal-oriented. Delaney is known to be a friend to all.

After high school, Delaney plans to major in pre-law and eventually go to law school to become a criminal lawyer.

Senior year is a milestone worth documenting. It marks the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another, often before families have had a chance to fully take in just how much their child has grown and matured. Years from now, senior portraits will mean so much, and I was grateful to be asked to document this season for Ethan.

In high school, Ethan is a part of the baseball team ... a sport which he has loved. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing ... with plenty of places to do that in Northwest Ohio!

His family will tell you that Ethan is sometimes a man of few words. He is quiet and goal-oriented ... yet he can be opinionated. :) He is hardworking, determined, and can be very funny.

Ethan has plans to attend Terra State Community College where he will play baseball and pitch for the Titans. His plans include pursuing a career in welding.

The Vacationland region of northern central Ohio is synonymous with beautiful lakefront views and popular tourist destinations. The same that brings Makenna and her family back to vacation each year led her to plan her senior portrait session in the lovely community of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio.

Makenna stays busy in in high school on the varsity cheer team and the competition cheer team. This year, she tried out a new sport while playing flag football on a team affiliated with the Cleveland Browns Girls High School Flag Football program.It sounds like she and her teammates had a blast!

Her family especially admires Makenna's fun personality and how she goes after her goals and accomplishes them with no fear.

Makenna is exploring plans for a future career. Best wishes to Makenna for a great year ahead!

This young man's senior portrait session started at a place where he spends a lot of time with his family playing a sport he loves. The golf club is not only a place of leisure and challenge, but it's also a special place of remembrance for Kaleb and his family. There is a special hole that is beautifully maintained in memory of his Uncle Rex, and it seemed only fitting to his family that it be included in his senior portraits.

Kaleb stays very active in school. He is a member of National Honors Society, the golf team, and the yearbook project. He is also a member of the Sandusky County Youth Foundation and part of the Sandusky County Community Foundation, serving on the Foundation’s Grant & Scholarship Committee and supporting fundraisers that benefit the Sandusky County community.

His family would tell you that one of the things they most admire about Kaleb is how much he values his family. He is his brother Corban’s biggest supporter and loves golfing with Corban, his friends and his grandparents any chance he gets. Kaleb values the importance of giving back and helping others. Through volunteering and serving the community through church, school, and special events like Sandusky County Night to Shine, he feels giving his time can make a difference. For his parents, it means a great deal to them to see him growing into someone who values family, supports the people around him, and understands the importance of giving back to his community.

After high school, Kaleb will pursue a degree in nursing and ultimately wants to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. He plans to attend John Carroll University or The Ohio State University.

The Fall season has arrived ... and Amy Simkus Photography continues to work with some AMAZING high school seniors from the Class of 2027!

Teagan is focused on her future while attending a local vocational school and pursuing an education in a dental assisting program. Outside of class, she enjoys hanging with her family and playing pickleball. She also loves her cats, Metro and Astro, and her summer job at at a local cafe in Catawba Island.

Her family would tell you that Teagan is compassionate, hardworking, responsible and knows when to do the right thing and step up for what she believes in.

After high school, Teagan has goals of attending Owens Community College to study in the dental hygienist program.

This girl is ready for a bright future! Have a great senior year, Teagan!

We are well into the start of the school year now into the Fall season. I truly do love this time of the year ... with a welcomed break from the heat and crisp freshness in the autumn air. We can expect some changes in the landscape with less florals, but brighter colors in the trees. Vivian's senior portrait session offered a nice mix of the two seasons.

Vivian is a fitness enthusiast and loves to workout at the gym. She played hockey and soccer for many years, and this year is trying out figure skating! She also loves creative writing and went to the state championship for writing team. She is a musician and enjoys playing the piano and the trombone. She works as a waitress now and enjoys interacting with other people.

Vivian's family describes her as that person who is willing to becomes friends with anyone, including "the shy kid" and will go out of her way to socialize with kids of diverse backgrounds and interests. She has helped her peers with positive life decisions (discouraging them from unhealthy choices) and has encouraged many to try fitness and work with her at the gym, teaching others about the machines and the value of a healthy lifestyle. She tried out many different sports and activities and had no fear giving it a chance even with the other kids already did the sport for years and she was new. She thrives when out of her "comfort zone" and has an adventurous spirit. She has kept top grades all through school even with a full schedule!

After high school, Vivian plans on attending college, with her top choice being the University of Cincinnati. She plans to major in an area relating to Physical Therapy.

It almost felt like taking a step back in time.

Lexi's mom and I have known one another since middle school, and I saw so many resemblances of her mama during Lexi's senior portrait session.

Lexi exudes confidence. She can command a room, but at the same time be incredibly humble. During her portrait session, a little girl ran up to greet her to tell her she looked like a princess. 😌 Lexi was so kind and gracious, giving ALL the attention to that little girl.

In high school, Lexi has played soccer all 4 years. She is also involved in the drama club and has participated in plays the past 3 years ... including the lead role of Ariel in last year's production of the Little Mermaid. Lexi is also a member of National Honors Society.

If you would ask her family, they would tell you that one of the things they admire most about Lexi is that she is kind and accepting of everyone. She is a giving person who is always willing to help someone who is struggling.

After graduation, Lexi plans to attend college and study Criminal Psychology.

Jack's active schedule led us to be creative with his portrait session time. Catching the Golden Hour at sunrise meant an early start time of 6:45 AM. Was it worth it? 1000%!

We started his session along the shores of Lake Erie where he and his family enjoy spending their summers. Read on to learn about the inspiration behind his second location. 🙂

Jack has many interests and uses his time wisely to enjoy it to the fullest! Jack has played 4 years of Varsity travel hockey for Team Ohio as a defenseman. He also enjoys playing golf, pickleball, and never turns down an opportunity to go fishing. In his spare time, Jack works at a golf pro shop and loves to spend time with his one-year old niece who he adores.

His family would tell you that they most admire Jack for his good moral compass, courtesy towards others, and purposefulness in all he does. He perseveres even when life gets difficult, and he doesn't let setbacks define him. Those who know him often comment that he is an old soul. He is talented both academically and in sports, but remains humble in his accomplishments. His love and commitment to God and family make his family most proud of him. His smile and laughter can make any room brighter. He is a loyal friend, always willing to help others, and an unwavering protector of his two sisters and his niece.

Jack's post -high school plan is to obtain his aviation license and practice as a private pilot. Jack intends to obtain a dual major in Aviation and Engineering at either THE Ohio State University, Bowling Green State University, or an aviation school down south.

While attending college, Jack hopes to continue his passion for hockey by competing in the University's Club Travel Team. Post-college he plans to settle and build a life in the Carolinas.

No doubt, Jack will succeed in his endeavors. Wishing him a great senior year!

P R I C E L E S S F A M I L Y M O M E N T S

Getting an extended family together for portraits takes some work. Coordinating schedules, getting everyone dressed and out the door, and hoping all are agreeable. Let's be honest ... there is usually a little chaos involved.

At the end of the day, that is part of what makes these sessions so much fun. Everyone making memories together.

There is plenty of time for the beautiful, posed portraits, but there are also the in-between moments. Incorporating the big bowl of popcorn the grandkids are used to eating at Grandma’s house. Cousins who have grown up together and are becoming best friends. A daughter who is obsessed with cartwheels. The laughter, the movement, and all the little things that make your family unique.

Years from now, those may be the details you remember most.

When the session is finished, I love helping families turn those memories into tangible heirlooms they can enjoy now, share with one another, and pass down for generations.
