Waterfront views of Duluth, Minnesota

I enjoyed wandering around the shores of Lake Superior, and being able to photograph the connection between the city itself and the water that is so integral in its creation and tourism industry.

Here are some different views of the lake front area 🌊

Downtown Duluth and Harbor

After a brief vacation and absence from posting, I am happy to be able start regularly showcasing photos taken in Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin!

I am beginning by posting images taken in the beginning of my trip in Duluth, then sharing pictures from other locations as my trip went on. I hope that you all will find some enjoyment in the views and experiences that will be shared.

This picture was my first taken on my journey, and a great view of downtown Duluth and the Harbor area. Also seen is the world famous Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge, which allows for large boats easy access into the harbor.

Thank you all for your support!

Turkey vulture enjoying some shade on a blistering hot evening this week ☀️

To avoid the heat, I am heading north for a week and a half starting tomorrow! I’m hoping to get some nice pictures in Minnesota and Wisconsin. It will be nice to get a break and some quiet time for a bit.

Looking forward to sharing some more pictures soon!

Have a great weekend 🤘

Blue Heron drying its wings after a long day of fishing for its meal 🐟

This Heron spent several minutes drying its feathers, which leads to an interesting camera pose!

Great Blue Heron

This weekend, I took advantage of the nice weather and made a trip out to Johnson Sauk State Park in Kewanee, Illinois.

While kayaking I spotted several Great Blue Herons, which made for some great photo opportunities.

Enjoy this close-up of a Great Blue Heron on the edge of a downed tree, as it’s looking for its next meal.

More Heron Pictures to come

False Parasol (vomiter) Mushroom

Popping out of the ground with dirt still hanging on the Cap, this False Parasol mushroom caught my eye for a few close-up pictures.

The False Parasol is a poisonous mushroom, and actually accounts for the highest number of Mushroom poisoning cases in the U.S., because they are mistaken for other edible mushroom species.

Green Heron (Butorides virescens)

Perhaps my most challenging photo that I have taken, here is a Green Heron that I encountered in a shallow and secluded portion of the Hennepin Canal near Geneseo, Illinois.

What makes this bird particularly difficult to photograph at close range, is the Green Herons’ tendency to remain hidden and secretive during daylight hours. They prefer shorelines with dense vegetation, often making an easy escape route in case of danger.

Sporting beautiful blue-green chest/back feathers and chestnut toned neck feathers, the Green Heron proved to be a breathtaking species of bird to spot.

More photos to come ❤️ thank you all for your support so far!
