We took a trip to the San Juan’s over 4th of July weekend and witnessed the Gold Mountain Fire outside of Ouray. It was heartbreaking to witness and I pray for the endurance and safety for the firefighters diligently trying to fight the wildfires all over Colorado and the western US.
The smoke and haze made for a dystopian look in this sunset photo taken along the Million Dollar Highway.

We played hooky from work to check an item off our bucket list. I’ve been wanted to stay at Piney River Ranch for several summers and decided that we were just going to do it this year. It is truly God’s country and I’m so happy we went! We found out this will be the last summer they are open because the Denver Water Board will not renew their lease. Piney River Ranch is one of the few non-commercialized places left in Vail. They strive to make it a family place where you can disconnect from the stress of life and reconnect with God and nature. It saddens me that this is being threatened. We watched our grandson just be a kid again and it brought us so much joy. Thank you for the memories and an amazing stay Piney!

A few photos from our trip to Sedona, AZ in February. The weather didn’t cooperate quite how we would have liked but we made the best of it.
AZ is a magical place and I can’t wait for us to go back to explore more of its beauty.

We went walking in Longmont a few weekends ago and a Great Blue Heron was standing on this rock for a long time watching swallows hunt for bugs on top of the water.
