Fewer than 200 acres of dry gravel prairie are left in all of Illinois, which is known, perhaps ironically, as "The Prairie State." However, five acres of that remnant prairie are in danger of being bulldozed to expand the Chicago Rockford International Airport. These species and others need that piece of prairie to survive. The bulldozers will enter the prairie in about three weeks. That's how long we have to save this irreplaceable ecosystem.
