Yesterday’s announcement that Philadelphia’s Academy of Natural Sciences will be closing after 200 years was so devastating to hear. My dinosaur obsessed son spent so many happy days exploring this wonderful museum. Now that he’s gets older, he was hoping to get a job at the museum. He even spoke with a museum employee about what he did to secure a job. I know I have many pictures of this museum hidden on my external hard drives from my camera but will have to settle for some cell phone pictures to pay tribute instead. I don’t know how an institution that has lovingly served this area for 200 years can be slated to close so quickly. This is a huge loss for the city and Delaware Valley. I hope things change and it can be saved. 😭😭😭

There was a “last” hiding in today that I wasn’t ready for…the last first day of school I’ll ever share with both my kids together. 😭 Gavin’s starting his senior year, and watching him step into that is equal parts proud and gut-wrenching.

They’ll always be my baby boy and baby girl, no matter how tall they get or who they’re growing into. I don’t need more kids..I just wish I could do these exact years, these exact summers, all over again. Being their mom has been the best part of my life.

Never have I had a dog more involved in a photo session than “Sir” Speedee here so I could not let National Dog Day go by without giving him some proper attention. He was very protective of his new baby sister and gave me lots of side eye but I can’t help but laugh whenever I see his adorable, yet suspicious, face. 🤣🤣🤣

Our Nora was a Covid puppy that we adopted after watching my brother in laws adorable dog for 5 months and were missing a furry friend in the house. We walked into a room of barking adult dogs at Providence animal shelter. My kids fell in love with every dog in the room. However, my eyes went directly to the little puppy quietly sitting on a little pillow with big puppy eyes. We were smitten immediately and brought her home despite the fact that we told the kids…”We’re not bringing home a dog, we’re only here to look at possible fosters.” Thankfully she was the best decision we made as a family. She is sweet, calm, loving…plus she is great in long road trips, minimally barks and has a low maintenance coat. 😜

Today we lost an angel on earth. A woman that came from modest means but surrounded by love and grew an empire. She probably could’ve been a billionaire but she gave away so much to charity. Her imagination library alone was an immense gift to thousands of children. We weren’t ready for her to leave but now she can now be reunited with the love of her life.

This is a photo of a girls trip I took with my high school friends to Dollyworld. It’s a lovely theme park but I particularly loved seeing the reproduction of her childhood home.

Thank you, Dolly! We love you and will miss you.

There’s a particular kind of quiet that happens watching your kid walk away down a dock, gear in hand, toward something entirely their own.

You spend years teaching them to swim, to be curious, to ask good questions…and then one day you’re just… watching them go do it, without you.

To the parents in this season right now: it doesn’t get less strange. Just prouder.

Anybody else navigating this type of change? How are you handling it?
