Spectacular day at the Easton Book Festival!
I was invited by the extraordinary Goddess Amy Ferris to participate in her panel discussion with women writers- uncensored and unfiltered. Feeling like the outsider (who me?? I’m an artist not writer!) I began by saying I don’t consider myself a writer- but I do tell stories. By the end of the day- I claimed my title! And shared my story and those of the women I have had the privilege to photograph.

I can't really believe I am a part of this remarkable panel discussion at the Easton Book Festival on October 17th. But if my dear friend-- the goddess Amy Ferris --asks me to join her for, well, really anything -- I will always step up! Each woman on this panel is a powerhouse, and I can't wait to hear this conversation!

Women authors in conversation about writing their truth, sharing their stories, and exposing their down and dirty. What happens when women tell their truth? What happens when women write their lives? What happens when women are bold and audacious on the page?

In 1987, I choreographed and co-directed this dance video, filmed at the base of the World Trade Center, with the extraordinary dancer Liz Benjamin and director/photographer David Reibman.

Watching it now, on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, feels deeply moving.

The World Trade Center was then part of the landscape of New York—a place where, one early Sunday morning, a few young artists could show up with an idea and a camera and ask a single security guard if we could film outside. We explained that we were artists making a dance video. He said, “Sure, go ahead.”

There was something wonderfully scrappy about those days. Little security. No elaborate production. Just an idea, a willingness to make something, and the generosity of someone saying yes.

So today, I’m sharing this piece as a small act of remembering—what was there before: the extraordinary presence of the World Trade Center, the energy of young artists, and the power of art to bring beauty, connection, and possibility into the world.

So sad to learn we lost Gloria Steinem. A Goddess! An inspiration! a S’hero!

So grateful to have met her shortly after my book Goddess in Earth came out in 2011 at the Bioneer Conference in Marin County.

I cherish this photo of her holding the book opened to the Kali page—embodied by Jody Evans (seen in this photo) and Dana Balicki. ❤️

How quickly the summer is flying by!
Just looking through some images from the Druid Festival in May, and LOVE this photograph from that day. I have known Annie Finch--poet extraordinaire-- for many years, and she was weaving her magic at the festival. We took a little drive up to Friends of River Hook to see the Still Here; Women of the Ramapough Lenape Nation installation, and created this wonderful portrait there. Thank you Annie!
