Jenuine Focus Photography I am a Professional Storyteller....A Keeper of memories. Photography has always been my way of giving back to the world.

I create vivid, intimate portraits of humans and wildlife that invite viewers to pause, connect, and appreciate the beauty, wisdom, and individuality of the natural world. I try to capture not just what is visually in my viewfinder, but also the emotion in the moment. While visiting Utah, I had planned on being with the wild horses more than I got to. I planned early morning or late evening photos with them, because those are the most beautiful. Health reasons made it harder to get those lighting opportunities. (kidney stones are no joke)
Here is what I know, I get the photos I am supposed to get. Period.
Do I love harsh light, NOPE. Do I love experiencing wild horses through my lens and any time of day...YES!
all of my portraits of the Onaqui are from mid-morning through midday and I would not trade them.
Please remember that when you are taking photographs. They are YOUR MEMORIES of an event you witnessed. so if you are not able to take photos at dawn, find peace with it. I have, and I love the ones I was there for.

What looks like a chase is actually serious business. In the wild horse herds like the Onaqui, dominate horses control access to resources - and water is the most valuable of all. This stallion is biting and pushing the other away to keep the water hole for his sub-herd. Survival, written in dust and hoof prints.

One of the last truly wild herds in the American West — and a reminder of what untamed still looks like. 🐎

I know tomorrow is Father's Day, (happy father's day to all the dads), but I would like to give a shout out to the Onaqui Mustang moms/aunts for a moment. These horses walk miles every day and the little ones get very tired. So while they rest at the watering holes, the moms and aunts watch over the little ones while they rest on the ground. It is quite a beautiful part of the herd mentality.

The Onaqui Herds are quite majestic when crossing the plain. Utah is beautiful
