I love this photo of Jay Bellerose and Billy Mohler before a gig in Venice several months ago. Jay is enjoying an ice cone while he and Billy are talking about a drummer who from the golden era of jazz. It's so fun being a fly on the wall amongst these musical icons. They genuinely love talking about music and I become a sponge and take it all in. I am not a musician by any means., but they welcome me in as if I am. I am@the luckiest person I know. I get to hang out with the best players and get to learn so much about music and its history by them, and through them. I love what o do so much and am so grateful and humbled to be welcomed into this community.

Here are some more images from Flea's LA show from the . I was honestly torn when reached out and asked if I wanted to shoot Flea's show last month. I've been listening to the record non stop and it's safe to say I'm obsessed with it. So, when Anna asked me that I immediately said YES! But, I also know myself and realized that I can't shoot and listen at the same time. So, I almost didn't bring a camera and wanted to experience the music live. So, I came up with a compromise and shot only a couple songs and then walked to back of the room, next to the sound man to take it all in. Looking back I am glad I did. I'm so hyped for Josh, Anna, and Jeff that they got to make such a great record with Flea. So many cool images from that night. I am not sure if they will play again in LA, but I hope they do.

I was having coffee the other day in Glassel Park and I notice this guy sitting next to me. As someone who loves shooting portraits I had to ask if I could take his. Hos name is Randal Fisher and It turns out he is a great tenor sax player and is connected to so many of my musical friends in LA. Small world.

Two legends in their own right .barbee & . Ray called me and asked if I was up to go see the Jeff Parker movie at . We went in hope of getting tickets at the door, and it was sold out. Fortunately, Jeff walked in as we were rejected and dejected from not being able to get in. He had two extra spots on his list, and we were able to make the movie. Timing is everything. I am fortunate to have been around for those Monday nights at ETA, and getting to know Jeff and the rest of crew. Jeff is an incredible musician, and even a better human. Those nights were so special and I'm grateful to have been a fly on the wall of that era. Big ups to on shooting the movie and Ryan - for making a place that music was important and everyone felt welcome. A little slice of LA history.

Over the past decade or so, I've been so fortunate to have met some of the best people and musicians in the world. Anna Butterss reached out to me last week and asked if I would like to come out to Flea's LA show for his new jazz Album he just recently released. Ever since they gave me the record I haven't been able to listen to anything else. If you haven't heard it, do yourself a favor and do so. and all played on it and Josh produced it as well. I was blown away on the show. It was even better live than on tape. Congratulations on making an inspirational and insta classic record.

It's kind of weird having one of your favorite artist be your friend too. I met Buck Meek about 8-9 years ago at a Big Thief concert and we instantly hit it off. I've been on several tours with Big Thief and his solo project and have had the best time on them all. Touring can be a grid, but well worth it. This is his 3rd music project called Kisser. It's so fun watching him make music with his wife, Germaine. I don't know which band I like more: Big Thief, Kisser, or his solo Buck Meek. Regardless I'm grateful to call him friend and genuinely love his music. rules.

The first time i used a M6 was 2004 on a Nike gig. We went to Nice, France for the Cannes film festival and skate trip. Todd Jordan was on this trip and he had his with him. The last morning of the trip i was he let me shoot a few rolls with before we left. The hard truth is it really is the best camera for 35mm. Unfortunately, I get why it's a small fortune... That didn't stop me from getting one when I got home. I had sell a few things to make it happen. But, stoked i i did. Fuji's Velvia was a really good film too. They made a good pairing.

Some people just look cooler than others. These are from a night out in 29 palms a couple months ago. I went out to shoot with Particle Kid and they opened the night. They played a blues meets gospel vibe that was so good. But, I'm a sucker for that.
