A Path to the Parkway: Meet the Orozco Family

It was more than 20 years ago when Fabio and Jeanne Orozco first found themselves on Margate’s historic Parkway. He was a young doctor completing his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She was a young nurse, fresh out of Villanova University, working in the emergency room at the same hospital. They were also newly married—surviving on her salary, lots of coffee, and a hope their future would be bright.

“We didn’t have much then, and Jeanne even helped me buy my first car,” Fabio recalls. Now an avid car collector, Fabio reflects on how far they’ve come since that day in Margate and the deal they made.

As the story goes, they'd been meandering down the Parkway, gazing at the magnificent houses, each unique in charm and grandeur. Fabio imagined how great it would be to live by the ocean, a thought he shared aloud. Jeanne had grown up in Wayne, Pennsylvania, and though her family spent every summer at her grandparents’ house in Avalon, she never pictured herself living anywhere other than the Main Line.

“I tell you what,” she’d said to him. “If you buy me one of these homes, I’ll move to the Shore.” They both laughed as they continued on their way, Jeanne chalking the comment up to wishful thinking.

For Fabio, however, perhaps the dream wasn’t out of reach. Raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Fabio grew up on fútbol, and setting goals is in his nature. He knew that with a lot of hard work, determination, and taking the shots that came his way, they might just get a home on that Parkway—and a slice of the American dream that brought him here.

Such a fun ceremony. Laughter, sincerity, love, joy... The hand fasting was perfection, and such a beautiful tradition. The birds chirping, the sway of the wind, the calm of the trees breathing all around us ... and the outfits all brought this entire vibe together.
I love how every wedding I photograph is completely different. Life would be so boring if every wedding was the same. The uniqueness of personalities is what drives me. I love the culture, the ideas brought together, the combining of families and traditions... It's all so amazing and I am beyond proud to be a part of this piece in their lives.

This is my yearly reminder that it's summer, and I have 3 children at home with me. My business work gets done in the evening, when I am not monitoring kids swimming in a pool, or running them around like a taxi service. If you have not received your gallery yet - don't worry - it's coming. Please be patient. Sometimes I am fast, sometimes I am not. It really all depends on how my week goes. I am one person, and I don't have a team of people doing things for me. I need time to breath, because If I don't, your images suffer. Please, do not rush me. This goes out to EVERYONE, this is not a targeted post. I have received multiple emails that have hiked my anxiety.

I love what I do, and I am doing my best. Happy Summer everyone!
